OKOWA CHARGES SPECIAL ADVISERS TO SHUN DIVISIVE IDEAS
DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has charged Special Advisers and other Appointees to shun divisive ideas and concentrate on actions that will help actualise the objective of government in all sectors of the economy.
The Governor gave the advice in Asaba during the swearing in ceremony of Dr Joseph Otumara, Rt. Hon. Basil Ganagana and Barr. Kingsley Esiso as his Special Advisers.
According to him, it was important for Special Advisers to be involved in actions which would lead to the accomplishment of set goals of government.
“As Special Advisers, you should come with bold ideas and initiatives for the attainment of set goals, you should eschew all divisive or diversionary ideas or actions. You should focus on ways that would lead to the accomplishment of our collective responsibilities to the state and its citizens,” he said, adding, “you are individually and collectively expected to employ your vision, competence and experience to instigate and implement measures or schemes that would help actualise the objectives of government in all sectors of the state’s economy.”
While assuring that his administration was “ready to work with advice from all Deltans provided it will improve our developmental objectives and impact positively on the lives of our people,” Governor Okowa stated that Special Advisers “must imbibe the principle of collective leadership and work in close liaison and cooperation with the Commissioners for the successful implementation of government’s policies and programmes.”
He warned, “there is no room for laxity or impunity, more so in this period of prevailing economic uncertainty, which demands total commitment, selflessness, team work and exemplary leadership from all and sundry, especially political appointees.”
The Governor asserted that the job and wealth creation of his administration was on course, disclosing, “another batch of six hundred and fifty trainees under the Youth Agricultural Entrepreneurs Programme (YAGEP) and Skill Training and Acquisition Programme (STEP) commenced their week-long orientation programme three days ago.”
“I am very delighted with the response of our youths to these entrepreneurship programmes,” he observed.
Responding on behalf of the Special Advisers, Rt. Hon. Ganagana thanked Governor Okowa for finding them fit for the job, assuring that they will do their best at all times to discharge their functions with the fear of God and to the benefits of Deltans.
