A
Pakistani baby girl who was born with an abnormal bulge on the top of
her head is desperately waiting for life-changing surgery. Anila
Ali, from Dokri in the Sindh province of Pakistan, was born with an
unusually large, soft head, which doctors diagnosed as a severe form of
craniosynostosis. This
is thought to be causing pressure to build inside the three-month-old’s
head, which is forcing her brain to spread outside of her skull. Medics
are baffled as to how to treat the newborn, who also suffers from a
severe form of spina bifida, which they claim has caused a tumour to
develop on her back. Anila’s
19-year-old mother Naushaba, said: ‘I was happy when I gave birth to
Anila, my first child, three months ago in a private clinic. But, I got afraid when I first saw her head. ‘Her head was not developed properly and doctors told us to take her to the children hospital in Larkana. Her head was so soft that doctors told us that even a small injury on her head can do her a lot of damage.’ Naushaba
and her husband Amad Ali, 21, took Anila to Larkana where doctors then
advised them to take her to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Centre in
Karachi. Unable
to afford to make the 270-mile (430km) journey, the couple’s friends
and family gave them £800 to cover the cost of their travel and stay in
Karachi. Amad, who earns just £4 a day as a daily wage labourer, said: ‘We took a lot of loans to arrange a visit and stay in Karachi. I wish our daughter gets the right treatment here.’

Argentine
striker, Gonzalo Higuain has been given a two game ban and a warning
after his sending off in AC Milan’s defeat to Juventus. The striker was booked by referee Paolo Mazzoleni late in the second half, which prompted a furious reaction. He
shouted in the official’s face, resulting in a second yellow, and had
to be dragged away by teammates and former Juve teammates. That
could have resulted in a long ban, but both he and Bianconeri striker
Cristiano Ronaldo made it clear he hadn’t said anything insulting to
Mazzoleni. Video
replays appeared to show him screaming “you always whistle at me!”,
indicating he was sent off for the severity of his reaction, rather than
what he actually said. Today the Lega Serie A has released its disciplinary report, with Higuain given a two game ban and a warning. It
was found Pipita had reacted in “an uncontrolled and threatening way”
while “blatantly reiterating his protests” as he refused to leave the
pitch. That means he’ll be suspended for the Lazio and Parma games after the international break, but available thereafter. Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has also been given a one game ban for his two bookings against Atalanta. Karol Linetty of Sampdoria and Tomas Rincon both picked up their fifth booking of the season and will miss Week 13. Empoli
Coach Giuseppe Iachini has been given a one match ban for a
“blasphemous expression” which was picked up by the fourth official.

Today, President Buhari in Abuja said his administration will work
harder to improve on the gains recorded in securing the country from the
onslaughts of terrorists and criminals, and ensuring that Nigerians
enjoy a better livelihood by stabilising the economy.
The President who received Tijjaniyya Shura Council at the
Presidential Villa, said the government continues to review its
interventions and projections on security and the economy, with the hope
of bringing peace and improved economy to all.
He commended religious bodies and Nigerians for the encouragement
shown to the administration through prayers, pointing out that a
peaceful and prosperous country is realisable with collective vision and
shared effort.
“I am grateful for the prayers and words of encouragement. Nigeria’s
unity is strong and must be sustained. It is instructive to note that
Nigeria preceded all of us in age, and we must do our best to keep the
country together'’ he said.
In his remarks, leader of the Tijjaniyya, Sheikh Ibrahim Shiekh
Maihula, said, “our desire is to live in a country that is peaceful and
economically vibrant, and we will keep praying for you and members of
your administration.’’ Shiekh Maihula said peace and economic prosperity
were not negotiable for the unity of the country, urging the president
to remain focused and steadfast in pursuing the policies he had
outlined.
Report by a section of the media that the immediate past governor of
Ekiti State, Ayodele Fayose, had started opening up on allegations of
corruption made against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes
Commission (EFCC) has been described as false, misleading and a feeble
attempt by the anti-graft agency to sustain its lies and campaign of
calumny against the former governor.
Fayose’s Media Aide, Lere Olayinka, who reacted in a statement issued
on Friday, said “no amount of sponsored media reports will change the
fact that as at today, the EFCC does not have any evidence to prosecute
the former governor in court.”
Olayinka insisted that his boss will only defend himself in the law
court, saying that EFCC had demonstrated that it was out to persecute
the former governor ostensibly because of his criticism of the President
Muhammadu Buhari led APC government.
He said; “it is a fact that Fayose wrote to the EFCC on September 10,
2018 notifying the commission of his decision to make himself available
on October 16, 2018. The EFCC replied by asking him not to wait till
October 16 and that he should come on September 20, 2018.
“Therefore, isn’t it funny that the same EFCC that was desperate to
have Fayose report on September 20 is still keeping him in detention,
four days after he willingly submitted himself? Isn’t it now clear to
all discerning minds that EFCC is only acting as an agent of persecution
against perceived enemies of the APC and it is helping to keep Fayose
out of circulation as desired by the powers that be?”
While urging members of the public to disregard any report of Fayose
saying anything other than demanding that he be charged to court,
Olayinka said; “Very soon, the public will still be fed with stories
like; Fayose writes confessional statement and eats it, he weeps in
detention, begs to return loots among other familiar lies of the EFCC.
“Nigerians should just ignore the EFCC’s sponsored lies and continue
to ask why the anti-graft agency has failed to charge Fayose to court
despite the overwhelming evidence it claimed to have. Most importantly,
Nigerians should be rest assured that Fayose will not be intimidated
even if he is detained for as long as the EFCC will be ready to take him
to court. He won’t say more than what he has said which is denying the
EFCC allegations and that the anti-graft agency is more of a persecutor
than prosecutor.”
Former Minister of Aviation, Stella Oduah, on Friday, announced her
defection from the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) to the the PDP,
the party she left to join APGA back in June this year.
Oduah who is the senator representing Anambra North Federal
Constituency at the National Assembly stated that her reasons for
joining APGA in the first place was due to her believe that the party
had ideological leanings towards Igboland but to her surprise, she found
that what was on ground was not what is being perceived by those
outside the party.
Her statement reads:
“Politics has always been about ideology and delivering service to
the people for me, because I believe leadership is all about solving
problems,” she said in a statement released by her media office on
Friday.
“Political platforms must afford members unfettered opportunity to
participate in the electoral process and to solve the problems of their
community, constituency and state.
“I joined APGA because I thought it had sound ideological leanings
native to Igboland. But my ideological expectations were a mirage. I
discovered that internal democracy, which will guarantee justice,
fairness and equity, was also not in practice in the party.
“After due consultations and with respect to my religious beliefs, I
announce that PDP remains the vehicle through which I will keep
fulfilling my mandate to the people of Anambra North. Thank you.”
