Church in Masinga, Machakos County, has been closed down after a pastor was caught red-handed pouring what he called anointing oil in a woman’s pri vate parts.
Ekalakala Chief and other residents raided the church after members of the public complained that worshippers undress during prayers
The Chief said that investigations revealed that only women are allowed to attend the Healing Ministries Church and the doors are open all the time. Every weekend, they hold keshas which are covered up as prayers but they are se x escapades.
The Pastor, Joseph Wambua, only prays for nude women in his chamber which is secluded and only one woman at a time is allowed in there. During the raid, lessos and women inner wears were found scattered all over the room which he could not account for. The church has been closed down because it operates illegally and the pastor arrested.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says President Muhammadu Buhari’s responses at the Wednesday Presidential Media Chat were not only embarrassing but also further exposed his undemocratic character as an unrepentant tyrant who has no regard for the rule of law and the self-worth of Nigerian citizens.
The party, in a statement by its National Publicity Secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh, on Thursday also said the President confirmed his partisanship in the much-vaunted war against corruption by openly absolving his ministers and party members of corrupt practices.
“Whilst we restate our respect for the person and office of the President, we note that President Buhari bared his true colours to the world as an unrepentant tyrant. Today, the world is no longer in doubt as to who is behind the prevailing recklessness, abuse of rights of citizens and outright flouting of judicial pronouncements by security agencies.
“A situation where the President openly pronounced persons facing trial guilty and sanctioned their continued incarceration despite being granted bail by the courts, presents a dangerous fascist practice obtainable only in totalitarian societies like Mussolini’s Italy, Hitler’s Germany, Idi Amin’s Uganda and General Than Shwe’s Burma.
“This extremely shocking dictatorial tendency being brazenly exhibited by the President in total disdain for our laws and judicial institutions portends great danger for our democracy and constitutionally-guaranteed rights of the people, and should be resisted by the citizens before it festers.
"The scorn for the principle of separation of powers, especially the independence of the legislature, is further manifested in the declared craving to regulate the funding and running of the National Assembly, a matter constitutionally vested outside the jurisdiction of the executive. We are most uncomfortable about his attempt at trying to whip up public sentiments against an independent arm of government, especially the one vested with the constitutional power of appropriation.
“Following from the foregoing, therefore, it may be necessary to suspend the application of our Constitution and allow the President to operate as maximum ruler for four years after which the nation can return to a democracy.
“On the issue of the Chibok girls, President Buhari’s embarrassing declaration of seeking information on the whereabouts and state of the girls betrays an obvious insincerity which is in total conflict with his campaign promises in that regard. Thus by this declaration, our dear President has accepted failure on this issue and should therefore apologise to Nigerians for all the insults, abuse and aspersions cast on the past administration by himself and the leadership of his political party.
“On the issue of devaluation of the naira, there is an obvious conflict between the budget speech wherein the president stated that the government is assessing the foreign exchange rate with a view to attracting foreign investments and his categorical pronouncement during the media chat that the naira would not be devalued. We invite Nigerians to note that the president obviously does not understand the currency that applies in the devaluation of the naira (laugh out loud).
“Furthermore, Nigerians were shocked by the President's labeling Nigerians as ‘very difficult lot’ while responding to questions on the strategy to be adopted in implementing his promised N5,000 social welfare package.
“This unhealthy portrayal of the citizens by the very father of the nation, who has remained unrelenting in de-marketing his country through unguarded statements, is indeed a great disservice to Nigeria and its international image. Consequently, we reject this negative labeling of our citizens and reiterate our confidence in them, especially the millions who remain honest, hardworking and credible.
“Finally, Nigerians must take copious note of the fact that the President gave no inspiring answers to questions pertaining to his campaign promises, the fight against insurgency and rescue of the Chibok girls, the poor state of the naira, sudden plunging of the economy under his watch, and the gradual loss of democratic rights and freedom.”

Spanish police said Tuesday they had detained two people who kept their 59-year-old brother locked up in "inhuman conditions" in a tiny, roofless room adjoining their home.
The man, who suffers from mental problems, was discovered naked in a tiny room without a roof in the southern town of Dos Hermanas, on a filthy mattress next to which bottles and buckets were laid out for him to go to the toilet, police said in a statement.
Police in the town near Seville made the grisly discovery when they brought his 76-year-old drunk brother back to his home following complaints of disorderly behaviour.
"Once inside the home, they saw a door at the end of a corridor closed with a chain... and padlock," Spain's national police said in a statement.
"After asking the man, he said that was where his brother lived, who had mental problems and whom they kept isolated for his security."
His 61-year-old sister also lived in the house and said she kept him fed and cleaned, and looked after his 1,000-euro ($1,100) monthly pension.
"Due to the strange situation they were faced with, the agents asked both siblings to open the door to check the state of their brother," police said.
"Once they went through, they came across another door closed by a wooden beam."
"After going through both doors, they found a crumbling, narrow staircase that went up to a type of dovecote," they added, before discovering the brother in the tiny roofless hovel.
"His health and cleanliness were deplorable and the state of the place was completely insanitary without access to running water or toilets," police said, describing his living conditions as "inhuman."
The man was taken to hospital, while his two siblings were detained, they added.

A baby who was born inside the toilet of a train in India slipped through the toilet bowl and fell on rail tracks miraculously survived on Monday, December 28. According to a statement made on Wednesday by a Police officer, Anil Sirohi in New Delhi, the 23-year-old pregnant woman went into labour while she was travelling on the train in the northern state of Uttar Pradesh.
She then went into one of the toilets where she delivered a baby girl. The newborn slipped out and fell unto the rail tracks.
"Passengers on the train heard her cries for help and pulled the emergency chain to bring the train to a halt. Moments later they ran toward the baby and found it was alive." Sirohi said.
The railway police moved both mother and child to a nearby hospital. Railway official, Chandra Mohan-Jindal, said it was a miracle that the baby survived after falling on concrete boulders of the track from such a height. "Fortunately the train was not at a great speed as it had just begun its journey from the railway station"
Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo allegedly left his five-year-old son Cristiano Jr with his mum Dolores in Portugal so he could travel to Miami, Florida, to deal with arrangements for a sibling for his son, a popular Portuguese TV presenter claimed today.
The 30-year-old spoke of his desire to have 'five or six' little Cristianos in a recent magazine interview.
He told FHM magazine: 'I think I have good conditions to have many kids so I want this. Let's find the right woman.'
He also gushed about his five-year-old, said to have been born in a private clinic in the US with the collaboration of two Mexican surrogate mums.
Cristiano Ronaldo vowed that the identity of his son's mother will never be known.
Ronaldo's mum revealed in her approved biography she had picked up Cristiano Jr, known affectionately as Cristianinho - 'little Cristiano', from a private hospital in Florida.
Cristiano was pictured getting VIP treatment at a basketball match and relaxing bare-chested round his hotel pool while his son stayed with his grandmother more than 3,800 miles away.
Dolores, who this year opened her own Twitter and Instagram pages, posted a string of pictures of her surrounded by her grandchildren including Cristianinho over Christmas in her native Madeira.
A mobile policeman was on Tuesday evening killed when a tipper driver allegedly lost control of his lorry as a result of brake failure and crashed into a police checkpoint at New Tarzan Junction, along Enugu/Onitsha Expressway in Anambra State
Divisional Police Officer at Ogidi, Hassan Musa, confirmed to newsmen yesterday that a policeman lost his life due to the accident, while two others were hospitalized, adding that the driver has been arrested.
According to reports, the driver lost control as he descended the hill towards the police checkpoint, and crashed into another lorry carrying a container that fell on the policemen.
Some eye-witnesses at the scene of the incident blamed the tipper driver for reckless driving, while others blamed the policemen for always creating artificial traffic jam along the road in a bid to extort money from commercial motorists.
They said the roadblock was created after the recent protests by members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB and the police have since turned that checkpoint into an extortion point.
The West African Examinations Council, WAEC has on Friday in Lagos released the statistics of candidates who passed English Language and Mathematics in theNovember/December 2015 WASSCE results.
In a released made available to Vanguard through email, its Public Relations Officer, Mr Demian Ojijeogu said:” A total of 67,713 candidates, representing 29.33 per centobtained credits in five subjects and above, including English Language and Mathematics.”
The statistics therefore implied that above 70 per cent who sat the WASSCE did not obtained five credits including English and Mathematics.
Meanwhile, in November/December 2014 WASSCE, 246,853 candidates who sat for the exams, only 72,522 candidates, representing 29.37 per cent, obtained credits in five subjects, including Mathematics and English Language. This connotes that there is a decline in performance from that of 2014.
Recalled on Thursday, during a press briefing in Lagos The Head National Office, Mr Olutise Isaac Adenipekun had concealed the statistical data of candidates who scored five credits in English Language and Mathematics, starting that it was not necessary.
He, however said: Of the 237,154 candidates sat the examination, 79,490 candidates, representing 33.51% obtained 6 credits and above.”

Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi says Chelsea is much
more happier under Guus Hiddink and have a better atmosphere in the team
than under former manager Jose Mourinho, who was removed by the club
owner, Roman Abramovich, before Chelsea's 3-1 victory over Sunderland on
19 December. Obi said;
He came back to the club a second time and won two trophies but now
he’s gone and we have to move on. Is it the right decision? Who knows?
We’ll only see in the future. “He [Hiddink] hasn’t changed much yet but
he was here before and he knows the place and all the staff. The players
are different – only me and John Terry were here before – but he knows
what to do. We’re down there in the table for a reason so he can’t come
in and perform miracles but we want to get out of there and climb the
table. We’ve had three games now without losing so are making the right
steps. I’ve been as confused as everyone else,” he said. “It’s difficult when you’re not playing, as you don’t really know
what the problems are. I wasn’t playing that much under Mourinho so
couldn’t put my finger on what was going wrong. It was a collective
thing – the players and the manager were not performing.” he concluded
Mikel also feels Man Utd played for a draw just like Chelsea were content with a draw at their recent clash at Old Trafford.
“Sometimes you could see in the game (against Man Utd) that they
had chances to attack but were a little bit sceptical or hesitant. Maybe
they were a little bit scared. “I don’t think they were really scared
but just a bit cautious. They were playing not to lose as well. Because
of the fast players we have up front, who can break, they were cautious
and approached the game not to lose. Both teams are not in the right
place right now to attack, attack, attack, attack. Sometimes you have to
be smart and settle for a point.”
24 year old Funke Balogun, a National Diploma II student of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), was allegedly electrocuted in a hotel bathroom owned by her boyfriend Abolade Adetunji's mother at 30, Balogun Street, Oshodi in Lagos on Sunday December 27th.
According to a report by the Nation, Funke who is a mother of one, was in a relationship with Abolade who just passed from NYSC. According to Funmi, the younger sister of the deceased, Abolade came to pick her sister at their residence on Saturday around 11pm.
“Abolade was in a hurry that night and I told my sister not to go but she picked some of her things and left with him. On Sunday morning around 7, she called and said plans had changed that they were not going to the beach again but to a hotel and since then, we have been trying her mobile line. When she didn’t pick her call, I became worried. That day was her birthday and our mother still called her in the midnight to pray for her. Even, when my mum called Abolade’s mobile line, someone picked and said he forgot his phone and since then his lime has been switched off."
Funmi said when she and some family members went to the hotel to see if they could check on her, they didn’t see her, adding that the receptionist said Adetunji just stepped out and wasn’t with a girl.
“Even when we got to Abolade’s house, we were told he had gone to the beach. Around 8pm on Sunday, my cousin and I went to the hotel again, I sighted blood on the wall and when I asked Abolade’s brother, Bayo where my sister was, he said: ‘at the moment, Funke is dead’; he said it without remorse and was still icing drinks in the freezer. Even when we went to the police station, they said they were not aware of the incident. Is that how my sister will die? She has been dating him for almost a year. He just returned from National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) orientation camp in Anambra State. The boy is very proud to the extent that whenever he visited her, he didn’t greet anyone.”she said
When interviewed, Abolade said his girlfriend died of shock.
"She was already in the bathroom and I went to meet my brother who was on the same floor with us to get the toothpaste. As I returned to the room, I tried to open the toilet door but it was stiff. As I gained access to the toilet, I met her on the floor with a shower handle on her right hand. When I tried to carry her, I didn’t know what happened until I saw myself on hospital bed.”
His father, Jamiu Adetunji, A. K.A (Yaro), said Abolade’s elder brother called their mother that they needed a doctor.
“Immediately we took them to Geo Medical Centre where Funke eventually gave up. We first took her to General Hospital, Ikeja but she was rejected because there was none of her family members with us. It was later we reported the incident to Akinpelu Police Station where they took the body to Yaba mortuary. I wouldn’t want to kill someone else’s daughter. Funke was my son’s girl friend and I told her to help me monitor his movement because at times he wouldn’t listen and since he talked about her dearly, I felt she was going to inspire him. It is really unfortunate. My son has put me in trouble. Even when they wanted to know the girl’s full name, I pinched my son few times just for him to wake up. I have arrested the electrician that connected light to the building because last Friday, occupants of the building beside the hotel complained of shock in their house and I told the electrician but he refused to come. It was after the incident he came and was arrested. “
The mother of the bereaved, Kehinde Balogun, has remained inconsolable since the day of the incident
"Funke was my first child and she has a three-year-old son. The only reason they live alone is because her school is close to the family house in Oshodi. Why did they kill my beauty? Why? What have I done to deserve this? I wish she listened to her sister that night because she had a dream. I saw my daughter in my sleep this morning telling me she had returned. It is unfortunate. I wish it was a reality. It is a big tragedy because where she died was three houses from where I gave birth to her. I warned her about him but she told me he was okay and assured me everything was fine.” she said amid tears.
62-year-old Babatunde Idris has been arrested by the Oyo State Police Command for parading himself as a colonel in the Nigerian Army and using a fake identity to defraud one Yinusa Mustapha of the sum of N40m.
The state Commissioner of Police, Leye Oyebade, said Idris was arrested after a petition was filed against him.
He said:
“Following a petition received alleging the fraudulent activities of Idris, the command’s Anti-kidnapping Squad swung into action and arrested the suspect, who until his arrest had fraudulently obtained various sums of money from his victims.”
Oyebade added that the suspect promised his last victim, Mustapha, that he would help him to get a certificate for oil importation in 2012, but up till now that hasn't been done. He failed to complete the deal after the money was paid into his account.
The commissioner added:
“The suspect forged various letterheads of the Nigerian Army which he issued to unsuspecting individuals and corporate organisations soliciting assistance. He also had multiple identities under fake names all bearing the status of a colonel”.
The suspect said on the other hand said:
“I collected N16m from him claiming to be a colonel in the army. I signed the form, but truly I am not a military man. One of my brothers is a general in the army. One day, he gave me a letter to help somebody, so I made a copy of it.
“Mustapha wanted me to help him to collect certificate of oil lifting and because I knew people who could do it, I took the money from him, but the deal failed.”
Residents of Big Daddy Street in the Atinplome, Bagadry area of Lagos State on Tuesday stormed an uncompleted building in the area, which they suspected to be a ritual killer’s den, after a female victim raised the alarm.
PUNCH Metro learnt that at about 12am, while a carnival went on in the area, a woman in her late 20s, whose name had yet to be known, had run into the party with her throat partly cut, while blood was streaming out of her body.
It was gathered that the girl, who later became unconscious and was rushed to a private hospital in the area, told the partying crowd that an alfa, identified as Mallam Sheu, had tricked her into the uncompleted structure before slitting her throat with a knife.
The matter was said to have been reported at the Morogbo Police Division, and some policemen came to the scene, but the alfa was said to have fled the uncompleted apartment.
It was learnt that in the morning, more residents thronged the area and they were said to have found bloodstains, old clothes, charms and ladies’ clothes inside the structure.
Speaking with PUNCH Metro, a resident who identified herself as Mummy Eso, said youths in the area attempted to burn the den in the afternoon, thinking that the girl had died as a result of her injuries.
Mummy Eso added that the alfa did not stay in the area and nobody suspected that he used the place for evil purpose.
She said, “There was commotion in our area in the midnight when boys holding a street party saw the girl bleeding from the throat. The girl, who just managed to speak, pointed to the structure and said an alfa had attempted to kill her, but she managed to escape.
“One of her hands had also been tampered with. So, the youths became furious and headed for the uncompleted building. Some policemen, who were also on guard duties at the carnival were informed about the incident and they went too. But information had got to the man, and he escaped before they could arrest him.
“Since morning, people have been coming to the area to check the building. They attempted to burn it in the afternoon.”
Another resident, identified as Akeem Ajao, who visited the building, said the youths found old bloodstains, clothes and charms.
He said, “The lady ran into the carnival with blood streaming out of her body. One of those at the carnival saw her and came to her rescue. She said a man was in the house trying to slaughter her.
“We rushed the girl to a hospital, where she is now receiving treatment. We did not know that the alfa used the house to do evil works. The girl’s clothes were bloodstained. The police have also come to the area this morning.
“When I entered the house, I saw bloodstains, charms and a human bone was also in the man’s car – a Gulf 4 vehicle. It was the boys holding the carnival who noticed the girl.
“The girl’s neck was cut. Nobody knows the family of the girl involved. The man has run away from the area.”
Our correspondent gathered that the alfa had been having an affair with the lady, before he took her to the uncompleted building on the evening of the carnival.
The lady was said to have come from the Igando area to Atinplome.
The Federal Government, yesterday, stated that effective January 1, 2016, petrol, would be sold at N86 per litre by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC Retail stations. All other oil marketers would sell at N86.50 per litre. The new stance was made known in Abuja during a news conference by the Executive Secretary of the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency, PPPRA, Mr. Farouk Ahmed.
He said the revised template, would be reviewed on quarterly basis and which would soon be presented to oil marketers. He said
“Since 2007, while crude oil price had been moving up and down, the template remained the same. This had made it necessary for us to introduce a mechanism whereby the template would be sensitive to the price of crude oil.
“However, the template is not static, as there would be a quarterly review and if there is any major shift, the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources would be expected to call for a review, either upward or downward, depending on the market condition.
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that the President Muhammadu Buhari administration would need to borrow at the rate of about N5 billion everyday in 2016 to fund its N6.08 trillion budget.
Speaking to newsmen in Abuja, on Tuesday, the National Publicity Secretary of the PDP, Olisa Metuh, said:
“Some people may be wondering why we raised an alarm about the budget. The reason is simple. When we analysed the budget, we discovered it is an attempt at a Keynesian economics of applying deficit spending to stimulate growth even when studies have proven that GDP growth rates decrease by over 50 per cent when debt goes from low or moderate to high. But then, we know the borrowing here is to pay huge campaign debt and fund a political war chest.
By every standard, this budget is a booby trap against the nation. When you break down the proposed N1.84 trillion borrowing, you discover that it amounts to borrowing N5 billion everyday for the 365 days in 2016. The questions are: for what specific projects are they borrowing N5 billion per day and how do they intend to pay back?
“The president should explain to Nigerians how they intend to pay back the loan. Is it by continuous borrowing to service the interests, and does he intend to accumulate colossal debt for future generations of Nigerians? "The truth is that this administration cannot justify this proposal. There is no known economy in the world where you can justify borrowing N1.84 trillion without specific projects and precise repayment outline. This is worse still in an oil-driven, mono-economy at a time crude oil is selling at $30 per barrel and is speculated to go down to about $20 or even lower in the next one year. "The idea can only come when you diversify the economy and boost production capacity in manufacturing and other critical sectors, a direction, which the budget clearly failed to provide."
Following his continued incarceration, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra and founder of Radio Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu, has expressed regret for referring to President Muhammadu Buhari as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile in his radio broadcasts.
Kanu, who has been charged along with two others by the Federal Government before a Federal High Court in Abuja on six counts of treason and other ancillary offences, said he intended to write a private letter to Buhari to express his apology to the President,Punch reports.
He also apologised to former President Goodluck Jonathan and Igbo elders for “some uncomplimentary things” he said about them.
The 48-year-old pro-Biafran agitation leader, who is, however, unapologetic about his demand for a Republic of Biafra, has been in the custody of the Department of State Services since his arrest in Lagos on October 14, 2015.
He tendered the apology for his comment against Buhari and others in a statement which he made to the DSS on October 23.
The prosecution, in its summary of the case, alleged that in one of the radio broadcasts by Kanu on August 1, 2015, he expressed his resolve to actualise the Republic of Biafra and “cast aspersions on the person and the office of the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria”.
The statement read in part,
“Reference to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as a terrorist, evil and a paedophile is regrettable and uncalled for and for that, I unreservedly apologise and will be doing so in a private letter to the President.
“Before PMB (President Muhammadu Buhari) there was the administration of Goodluck Jonathan. I also said uncomplimentary things about him and Igbo elders as well, which I now recognise should not have happened because it is un-African to be rude or insolent to elders.
“All I was trying to do is to draw attention to the problems afflicting society and something done about them.”
Kanu, who described himself as a Nigerian and a British citizen, justified his agitation for a Biafra Republic.
He said IPOB’s secessionist agenda was informed by the “incessant hardship, lack of holistic development in the socio-economic landscape of Nigeria, lack of youth employment, corruption in high offices and economic regression.”
He added that the agitation by IPOB, which, according to him, was founded in London in 2012 by a group of people from the South-South and South-East regions of the country, was in line with the United Nations Charter on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples ratified by African countries, including Nigeria.
In contrast to the counts of managing and assisting in the management of an unlawful society preferred against Kanu and two others, the Radio Biafra founder stated that IPOB, which the prosecution described as unlawful, was registered with the UN to pursue the rights of the people of Biafra.
He stated,
“I can confirm that I, Nnamdi Kanu, is the leader of Indigenous People of Biafra worldwide as a legitimately and duly registered body at the United Nations pursuing the rights of a specific indigenous people, in this case, Biafra, to seek self determination according to the said charter.
“The reason for the formation of the Indigenous People of Biafra is to avail those referring to themselves as Biafrans the opportunity made available as a result of the United Nations declaration to seek the peaceful rebirth of Biafra in line with international law.”
Minister of State for Aviation Hadi Sirika has ordered the suspension of three top officials of Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, over an incident involving Turkish Airlines at the airport.
The minister told reporters in Abuja yesterday ,after listening to explanations by the airport officials on the incident which happened at about 11pm on December 24.
He said the ministry ordered thorough investigation to ascertain the cause of the breach and why the airline brought in passengers without their luggage.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN),he stated that the action of the passengers, forcing their way into the tarmac and blocking the aircraft from taking off was a security breach which must not be condoned.
Sirika said:
“There has been an unfortunate incident where some agitated passengers of the Turkish Airlines arrived without their luggage making them to force their way into the tarmac which is a breach of security.
“The explanation given is not satisfactory because the primary purpose of the government is to ensure safety of lives and property of its citizens.
“The cardinal objective of this administration is to secure the country and manage it and we cannot fail in aviation and we cannot fail in this important assignment at a very important point.
“We have ordered for the investigation into the matter immediately and all the people that are manning the various places; Airport Manager, Terminal Manager and Head of Security, should handover to the next man in rank pending the outcome of the investigation.
“As to the airline also, the Consumer Protection Unit of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) has been ordered to find out what happened, how compliant they are and deal with it accordingly.”
He added that the ministry was yet to get the flight manifest to be able to ascertain the number of passengers involved.
According to him, the passengers got agitated and got access into the prohibited area because there was security lapse.
Islamic State's 'female Gestapo' mutilated and killed a mum - because she was breastfeeding her son,the Sunday Times reports.
The innocent mother covered her son with her burqa to hide him, but members of the Al-Khansa brigade spotted her and meted out their barbaric punishment.
Al-Khansa is a special brigade set up to enforce the terror group's strict Islamic views.
Aisha, a former resident of Raqqa in Syria who now lives in southern Turkey, told the Sunday Times: "An [Isis] policewoman took the baby, gave it to another woman, and then killed the mother.”
Pro-ISIS social media sites revealed she was mutilated before she died.Al-Aqsa is a special brigade set up to enforce the terror group's strict Islamic views.
They bite and whip any woman who steps out of line and force girls to become sex slaves.
One former Syrian schoolteacher trapped in the city opened up to Channel 4 in a documentary, Escape From ISIS.
She said:
"We have no freedom. We cannot go out on the balcony or look through the window. They will arrest a woman if she wears perfume or raises her voice. A woman’s voice cannot be heard."They said my eyes were visible through my veil. I was tortured. They lashed me. Now some of them punish women by biting. They give you the option between getting bitten or lashed."

Speaking with Vanguard shortly before they left, the septuagenarian’s in-law, Mr. Segun Shodunke, said:
“I am taking Mama to my house. The incident is so devastating. Taiye
and Kehinde were like my biological children.“Unfortunately, since the
incident happened, the Police have not visited to console with Mama. We
learned that the Commissioner of Police was at the hotel on Sunday, but
he never came here.”
He also denied news that the deceased twins were cultists.
He said:
“Taye was a naval man. He joined the Nigerian Navy about four years
ago. I don’t think a military man can join a cult because he has
access to a gun by the government. Kehinde on his part was working at
Mega Con Oil station at toll gate, as an account officer.
“Currently, the corpses are in Navy custody. They (naval personnel )
came this (yesterday) morning to take them to their morgue. All we
want is justice and I know that government knows what it is supposed to
do.”
‘My last moment with Adegoke’
Also on 3, Dairo Street, one of late Adegoke friends, who claimed to have witnessed his interment, said:
“My friend was buried at exactly 7.24p.m., by some policemen on
Sunday. Some of his family members were present. His family members
gave their consent to his being buried because they said they didn’t
want trouble.
“The last moment I shared with him (late Adegoke) was a memorable
one. He visited my house that fateful day, which was also his birthday.
He came with a pack of food he bought from an eatery. Playfully, I
collected the food from him and ate. Like the easy-going person he was,
he never complained. He later left, only for me to receive a call that
threw me off balance.
“The caller informed me that Adegoke had been shot by a policeman. I
rushed down to Paulson Hotel, where to my greatest shock, I saw
corpses littered on the ground. I went to Jeje’s body, carried him and
shook him vigorously as I called out his name, hoping he would answer.
But there was dead silence. I have known him for 20 years. He was an an
amiable person.”
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed has restated commitment of the Federal Government to tracking and locating the missing Chibok girls.Mohammed, who spoke during Channels TV, Sunrise programme via phone stated that,
“We are a bit constrained. I know that some countries have set certain fire around the Sambisa forest in order to smoke out the Boko Haram insurgents but we are being careful because we are still looking for the Chibok girls and we do not want unnecessary collateral casualties.
“I know that many of our neighbours like Mali and Niger have employed certain procedures because of our major objective that we are still looking for the Chibok girls, so in some parts of Sambisa forest, we cannot adopt such drastic approaches.”
He continued..
“People must own the war. They must report suspicious movements and complement efforts of the military. How many bars or football viewing centres in Lagos can you secure? No, but if you have enough information to beef up the security, it would help,”
“That is absolutely incorrect. It is possible for insurgents to lay ambush on the road. It doesn’t mean that they are in control of those local governments. I travelled 89 kilometres from Maiduguri to Bama.
“We are not saying we are going to route or eliminate ambush or attacks overnight. It’s never done in any insurgency but what we are just giving the fact, less than a year ago, the entire north east was
almost in their control, today they don’t have that kind of command. It’s just about one local government that they have swayed at all,”

Professor Abdel Fattah Alawari, dean of Islamic Theology at Al-Azhar University, said Islamic State has "nothing to do with Islam".
A woman, identified as Esther Williams, has been arrested by the Isheri division of the Lagos State Police Command for pouring hot water on her neighbour, Mabel Enwongomfon–Umoh, who is a nursing mother.
Williams, who is said to be in her late 30s, was said to have emptied a bucket of hot water on Mabel after they had a minor argument in their rented house on Thursday, December 24, 2015, around 8pm.
The incident left Mabel, who was still breastfeeding her two-month-old baby, with severe burns on many parts of her body, including her two breasts and abdomen.
PUNCH Metro gathered that the woman had not been able to breastfeed her baby since the incident happened.
The husband of the victim, who identified himself simply as Umoh, told PUNCH Metro that Williams attempted to escape after assaulting his wife, but he was able to apprehend and hand her over to the police.
Mabel, 27, who was evidently writhing in pains on the hospital bed when our correspondent visited, toldPUNCH Metro that it was a fight between some of her co-tenants in front of her room that led to the incident.
She explained that Williams, who poured the water on her, had nothing to do with the quarrel.
She said, “My neighbour’s brother and his girlfriend were fighting and they pushed themselves to the front of my door. When I could not cope with the disturbance again, I went outside to call the guy’s sister to come and separate them or make them leave our entrance.
“As I was going back to my room, Williams, who had nothing with the fight, asked why I called the sister, saying I was interfering in something that did not concern me. I told her that they were fighting in front of my room, but she pushed me. I was surprised because we never had a quarrel before then.“That was how we started shouting on each other.”
She recalled that it was the noise from the fight that drew the attention of her husband who was in the room with their two children. She said her husband came out to separate them and they were already going back to their apartment when Mabel ran into her room to carry the bucket of water and poured it on her.
She said, “I was in the front while my husband was behind me. Suddenly, she went into her room and came out with a bucket and poured the content on me.
“I have been in serious pain since then, and I have not been able to breastfeed my two-month-old baby, who is my second child.”
A police source told our correspondent that Williams had confessed to the crime and that she blamed the devil for the act.
When Mrs Lawal sent her 11-year-old grand-daughter (names withheld) on an errand to deliver okro to a customer, she did not envisage that the girl would be ambushed not to talk of being raped.
The fate that befell the grand-daughter on November 29, 2015, at Pure Water Bus Stop along Lagos-Badagry Road, was better imagined than experienced; she was found lying on a culvert unconscious, with blood all over her body.
It was learned that victim was ambushed on her way to the next street when a 27-year-old bakery worker, identified as Sule, allegedly ambushed her, dragged her to an uncompleted building and raped her.
It was alleged that Sule then abandoned the little girl there. She regained conscious and barely able to walk out of the uncompleted building when she collapsed on a culvert near Adebola International School, along palace road.
The suspect allegedly ran away after the rape, but police officers from Morogbo Divisional Police Headquarters apprehended him a week later.
Narrating her ordeal, the Primary 3 pupil said:
‘’After my grandma returned from the market that day, she sent me to her customer who sells cooked food at the other street. She asked me to supply her fresh okro which the customer had ordered for”.
‘’It was while I was on my way there that uncle Sule, who works in a bakery at Itoro area, called me. He said he wanted to buy okro for his wife. I told him the okro was not for sale, and that my mother’s friend had ordered for it. He said I should follow him, but I refused. All of a sudden, he grabbed me and dragged me to an uncompleted building. When I tried to shout, he used his hand to cover my mouth. As I tried to struggle, he tore my clothes and removed my pants. He also used his nails to injure my back as I attempted to escape, he over powered me and raped me.”
Mrs Lawal, the grandma, also gave her perspective of the incident. She stated: “After waiting for about 30 minutes for her to come back from the errand, I started looking for her because the place where she was supposed to take the okro to was the next street, less than 10 minutes’ walk. It was around 2pm that I asked her to go and give the okro to my customer who placed the order. After waiting for her to come, I started looking for her before an Okada man came to alert me that they had found my grand-daughter at about 2:30pm, and that she was lying unconscious on a culvert close to Adebola School. When I got there, onlookers had gathered at the scene. I was pained at what I saw; my little girl soaked in her own blood, her clothes torn. It was obvious she had been raped, as she was bleeding profusely, but because she was unconscious we didn’t know who was responsible. Immediately, I called my husband and he asked me to report the case to the police. When we got to Morogbo Police Station, they gave us police report and referred us to the General Hospital, Badagry.’’
She continued:
“A doctor’s report from the hospital confirmed that my grandchild was raped, as she had deep cuts and severe injuries inflicted on her virginal which caused the bleeding. The doctor stated that because of complications arising from the rape, her womb had been affected and that she needed urgent surgery. So they referred us to Igando General Hospital, along Iba -LASU road where they said they had the facility to handle her case.”’
