One rumour that continues to trail actress Nkiru
Sylvanus, is that she is Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha’s mistress.
This rumour has refused to go away because of the several appointments
the fair-skinned actress has gotten under the Governor’s administration
even though she is from Enugu State.
In this interview with Leadership newspaper, the actress explains her
relationship with ‘Owelle’, as the governor is fondly called by his
admirers. Read below:
What have you been up to lately especially since the premiere of your much acclaimed film, The Voice?
I’ve been busy with a couple of other movie projects since then. Of
course, you know that entertainment is my first love. So it’s always
dear to my heart; you can never let go of your first love. I’m working
seriously, so you are going to hear from me soonest. I’ve got a couple
of projects lined up for the year, but as you know, it’s the election
season and there is a kind of lull. But trust me, as soon as we get over
the election fever, I’ll swing into action.
You were the Special Adviser (AS) Lagos Affairs, to the
government of Imo State, SA on public affairs and now the Director
General, Imo Film Academy, what do you think are the chances of the
governor in the coming election?
The chances of His Excellency Anayo Owelle Rochas Okorocha are
non-negotiable. In fact, there’s no other candidate as far as Imo people
are concerned. This is a man that has come to be adored by the people
of Imo state. He has achieved way more than any governor that has led
Imo state in the past. His works speak for him and the people of Imo
know that Rochas Okorocha is a man that represents progress. Imo state
has moved forward under him, the state has developed in all
ramifications. From health to education, infrastructure to empowerment
and what have you! So, Imo people definitely want the governor back
because they don’t want to go backward. Rochas Okorocha within a short
period has taken Imo people miles ahead. They are now proud of their
state.
In most of your interviews, you’ve always expressed
passionate views about the governor. It was even rumoured that you were
dating him. What can you say?
Rumours are what they are, baseless rumours! The governor is my boss,
but it will be unfair to see something good and not mention it. I speak
passionately about him all the time, because of his good works, his
belief and his passion for positive change. This is a man whom the
people of Imo generally love for his good works. Since Okorocha became
governor, the number of dualised road networks has increased, creation
of new access roads are uncountable, while old dilapidated roads have
been repaired and rural roads are uncountable. Positive impacts have
also been made in the rehabilitation of public utilities, health,
agriculture, youth empowerment, infrastructure improvements, etc. I can
list his achievements from now till tomorrow and it won’t end.
But where do you think these negative rumours are coming from?
They are all lies. Propaganda fueled by those who are enemies of the
state. They’ve realised that Okorocha’s achievements cannot be faulted
and so resorted to propaganda by trying to massively misinform the
people about his person. Another disappointing aspect is how people are
sacrificing good governance and credibility for religious bias. Even
some men who are religious leaders are now pitching their tents with
different politicians because of selfish gains and have joined in
fuelling political propaganda across the country. We face the same issue
here in Imo State. Where is the love of God in all of this? It’s
disappointing that discrimination has entered and taken root in
Christendom.
But can we really separate religion from politics?
It’s not about separating religion from politics now. The problem is
that churches are now involving themselves in partisan politics; one
would begin to wonder how it got this bad. I know churches as a place
where we live it all for God but what went wrong? Nigeria is a religious
country and there is no way you can insist on a particular religion
only being in power. I hear some pastors say “we can’t vote for a
Muslim; we must vote a Christian,” my question is, when will that end?
How do they intend to achieve that always? Or is it just for now? APC
has a Muslim-Christian ticket, PDP has Christian-Muslim candidates, so
what’s the confusion here? And after PDP’s four years more, that is if
they get it, under their arrangement, power goes back to the north, what
next? I think we should pray more for the unity of this country.
Religious war is such that never ends and we do not want to go there. We
shouldn’t allow these power hungry politicians destroy the church and
this country. My advice to Nigerians is to look before you leap, think
before you act or talk. While Christ tarries, let us try to love our
neighbours as we love ourselves! That’s the word of God and love is the
greatest of all.
What’s your opinion about the shift in dates of the 2015 election?
For me, it was a huge disappointment because by now, the nation would
have left the corridor of uncertainty to the path of moving forward.
The postponement is a big setback for the nation and democracy but
anything for the peace and progress of Nigeria is okay! So we patiently
await the holding of elections on the new dates.

APC: Fayose ‘Importing’ Fake Soldiers Into Ekiti •Stop Raising Unnecessary Alarm – Gov
The Ekiti State chapter of All Progressives Congress, APC, has challenged Governor Ayodele Fayose to explain to Nigerians why he imported men in Army uniform, suspected to be thugs, into his country home in Afao-Ekiti on Tuesday night.
The opposition party, which said the governor’s action might be in furtherance of his insistence that soldiers must be deployed to rig the forthcoming general elections, also challenged him to explain the roles of the young men in Ekiti State.
A statement by the state Publicity Secretary of APC, Taiwo Olatubosun, on Wednesday, said Nigerians ought to know the reason behind the stealthy importation of these young men to Afao-Ekiti at night.
Olatubosun recalled that the party had earlier raised the alarm over the sewing of fake military uniforms for thugs to impersonate security personnel to enable them to rig elections.
He said the governor’s alleged rigging plan had manifested in some Oodua Peoples Congress members in military uniforms, operating as task force officials that had been terrorizing the opposition in recent times.
Olatubosun said, “Last night’s importation of young men in six 18-seater buses to Afao-Ekiti home of the governor is a clear confirmation of our fear that Fayose means business as he has been boasting around that the presidential election will be a do-or-die affair.
“We were monitoring these young men from Ibadan yesterday evening. They were brought in a luxury bus parked under the bridge at Iwo Road, Ibadan, where the men in charge were looking for smaller buses to convey these young men to Ekiti. The conditions for their hiring included that they must know Ekiti State terrain and Afao-Ekiti in particular.
“The six buses left Ibadan late in the evening and arrived Afao-Ekiti at exactly 9.15pm and the men disembarked in front of the governor’s house. What gave them away was the discovery of Army uniforms in their bags when they opened their bags to buy hot drinks and akara from road hawkers inside the bumps at Ikire”.
In a counter-reaction, Fayose said the party was only raising an unnecessary alarm because there were no soldiers being kept at Afao as the party alleged.
The governor’s reaction was contained in a terse statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Idowu Adelusi.
“Election has not come; we have about 34 days to the election. What will that number of soldiers be doing in Ekiti when we are not in election period?
“Beside that, only Mr President can deploy military to provide security during election. I think the APC is already throwing in the towel for an election that has not taken place. Rather than raising unnecessary alarm, the Ekiti APC should think of a way of helping General Buhari to overcome his credibility crisis, which is more fundamental.
“It is not unlikely that the APC is planning to import fake soldiers to Ekiti for the election because it has the habit of accusing PDP of what it has planned to execute”, Fayose said.

Police Raid Kaduna Terrorist Sect’s Hideout, Recover Arms, Ammunitions
Six suspected members of the Kalakato sect were arrested on Wednesday by the Kaduna State Police Command, after their hideout at Farakwai Village along the ever busy Kaduna-Zaria road, was raided.
Farakwai Village is about 40km away from the Kaduna metropolis.
The suspected terrorists are presently in detention at the police command’s headquarters, Kaduna.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Abdullahi Zubairu, said the six were alleged to be involved in human trafficking, robbery and possession of sophisticated weapons.
He said the case was reported to the command this month, explaining that following a tip-off, policemen raided the hideout, where six suspects were arrested.
Zubairu said they (suspects) would be charged to court for human trafficking, robbery and possession of fire arms.
He said, “The case was reported to the police on February 20 and we immediately swung into action, raided the place and arrested six but two others escaped.
“We are charging them for human trafficking, robbery, and been in possession of rifles”.
A security source added that when security operatives combed the hideout, a woman and two other boys, who had been held by the sect for years, were discovered.
The source also said one of the boys had been chained for several years.
He said the leader of the Kalakato sect was currently at large, adding that while the men of the command ransacked the large compound, weapons, including AK 47 rifles, several rounds of ammunition, machetes and other dangerous weapons, were recovered.
The leader of the Farakwai community, Malam Muhammadu Farakwai, who led some journalists to the compound, said the sect members activities was enveloped in secret and they had not been relating with other members of the larger Farakwai community as should be the case.
Two Prison Officials Bag Three Years Jail Sentence For Stealing Diesel Kept As Exhibit In Prison Custody
A former Deputy Comptroller in charge of Ogwashi-Uku Prison in Delta State, DCP Diete Wure Wisdom and a Senior Inspector of Prison, Ayamede Peter, have each been sentenced to three years imprisonment for stealing 27, 200 litres of automotive gas oil (AGO) stored in exhibit trucks, left in the custody of the prison service.
They were sentenced to prison by Justice C. O Ogisi of Delta State High Court, Sapele, on Wednesday.
The duo were prosecuted on a 4-count charge by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on the strength of evidence that they conspired to sell products in three exhibits trucks: Mack tanker with registration number XD 605 JJT and Man Diesel Lorries with registration numbers, XD 789 ENU and XD 620 FGG, filled with AGO.
The petitioner had alleged that after the sale of the products, the drums and the tankers were refilled with water on the directives of DCP Wisdom.
Consequently, they were arraigned on November 1, 2013, on the four count charges but they pleaded not guilty to all the charges.
One of the counts read, “That you Wisdom Wure Diete and Peter Ayamede while being a Deputy Comptroller of Prisons in charge of Ogwashi-Uku prison and a Senior Inspector of Prison respectively on or about April 2012 at Ogwashi-Uku Judicial Division did steal 27,200 litres of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO) being the content of the 134 (One Hundred and Thirty Four) drums of 200 litres each loaded in a truck with registration number: XN 789 ENU, valued at about N4, 02,000.00 property of the Federal Republic of Nigeria kept for safe keeping with the Nigerian Prison Service Ogwashi-Uku which you were in charge and thereby committed an offence contrary to section 390 and punishable under Section 390 (5)(8)(b) & (9) of the Criminal Code Law CAP C21 Laws of Delta State of Nigeria 2006”.

Yobe, Kano Attacks: Buhari Calls For Greater Vigilance, New Strategies Against Terrorists
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Maj.-Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has condemned the latest bombings in Yobe and Kano States, and called for greater vigilance and new strategies in dealing with the insurgents.
A statement signed by the Director of APC Presidential Campaign Organization, Mallam Garba Shehu, quoted Buhari as regretting that the latest blasts came on the eve of the first anniversary of the Buni Yadi terror attack, where several students of a Federal Government College were killed in their sleep.
While regretting the frequency at which terrorists destroyed lives of innocent people, the statement said that a situation where terrorists get bolder with every passing day calls for serious reflection and concern.
The APC flag bearer, while commending the efforts and sacrifices of the counter-terrorism forces in fighting the insurgents, called for greater vigilance and new strategies.
He said further that the APC recognises the complexity of terrorism and its peculiar challenges and called for more and tougher strategies.
Buhari added that a situation where the criminals outsmart the system is disturbing and called on the Federal Government to take proactive steps to stem the frequency at which the terrorists penetrate security cordon and checkpoints with maximum ease and strike their targets with extreme cruelty.

We’ll Capture Shekau Before Elections — Jonathan
President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed strong belief that the leader of Boko Haram, Abubakar Shekau, will be apprehended by government forces before the commencement of general elections next month.
The president made the disclosure in an interview with Thisday newspaper last Friday.
Responding to a question on what his government is doing about the terrorist leader’s recent threat to disrupt elections, Jonathan said, “God willing we will catch Shekau before the elections”.
Mr. Shekau, whose group has been responsible for the gruesome killing of over 15,000 Nigerians, has become a sort of mystic figure since claims of his death in encounters with security forces has been disproved twice, as he managed to resurface in videos, debunking news of his death.
However, the tune has changed in the last two weeks as security forces, buoyed by the Nigerian government’s procurement of state of the art military hardware, genuine cooperation from regional partners and change in operational strategies, have made significant gains in the war against Boko Haram, reclaiming some areas seized by the militants.
This is just as Shekau’s fighters are beginning to flee from the battlefront as their strongholds, hitherto considered ‘dreaded’, come under heavy bombardment from a reinvigorated Nigerian Air Force, leading to optimism that an end might just be in sight to the insurgency.
President Jonathan in the interview also admitted that the strength of Nigeria’s military was not at par with its position as Africa’s largest economy, adding that his government is determined to look inwards for arms procurement after the country encountered some obstacles in its bid to strengthen and properly equip its armed forces in line with global standards.
“Concerning the military strength being not at par to that of Nigeria’s economic development, there are some countries that don’t have powerful military”, Mr. Jonathan said.
“I don’t think Switzerland has a very powerful military. There are some countries that were even doing away with their military until this issue of terror, and now some of them are reconsidering.
“What happened in Nigeria is that after the civil war we had no reasons to buy sophisticated weapons. Since after the civil war, all what we have been doing is peace keeping, apart from stabilising Liberia and Sierra Leone, where our soldiers really fought war to stabilise those countries.
“Back home, we were at peace with our neighbours. It is now that we are witnessing Boko Haram that we see that fighting them is not what we do with AK 47, and now we have to look for money. I totally agree with you, if Brazil can manufacture commercial helicopter, what stops us from going into manufacturing”.
The president further said that if re-elected, his administration would focus on local technologies for arms production.
“Recently, we wanted to buy tear-gas from a country and they were bragging and saying that Nigeria has human rights abuse issues. I kept wondering what is tear-gas? I vowed that God willing if I return, Nigeria must produce tear-gas”, he said.
“What is the technology of producing tear-gas for God’s sake? What is the technology of producing APCs and armoured tanks? I agree with you that in terms of manufacturing, we must and we have no choice than to get into it as a nation. That is why we are emphasising about local content in production; that you can witness in the automobile industry which has come back”.
Mr. Jonathan also said that more companies would be issued licenses to produce arms, to complement the Kaduna-based Defence Industries Corporation of Nigeria, DICON.
“Just last week a company that bought over the machine tools in Osogbo came to show the bullet proof vest that they produced and I asked them, can’t you produce weapons and they claimed that they can manufacture weapons if they could be patronised and there is a guarantor”, said the president.
“Yes we have our own DICON, but DICON alone cannot produce all our weaponry. We must have more than two, three companies in a big country like Nigeria.
“I told the company that immediately after the elections, if I’ll be here for the next four years, before they start going for weapons, all the tear-gas that we’ll use in Nigeria, will have to be produced in Nigeria”.

Publish Forensic Audit Report On Missing Oil Money – Buhari Challenges Jonathan
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Gen. Muhammadu Buhari (retd), has challenged President Goodluck Jonathan to order the release of the full report of the audit of the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation, NNPC, accused of unremitting $20 billion oil money to the federation account.
Buhari, who threw the challenge, in a statement issued by the APC Presidential Campaign Organisation, said Mr. Jonathan should live up to his flaunted belief in the rule of law and public probity, by acceding to the request of the National Assembly to release the forensic audit by PriceWaterHouseCoopers.
Mr. Buhari said the president should also go ahead and publish same in mainstream newspapers for Nigerians to assess or query the degree of transparency involved in the controversial transaction.
“Why should the President and the PDP develop the feet of clay like an immovable Colossus when the representatives of the people in the National Assembly asked for copies of the forensic audit report, which public outcry forced the government to procure in the first place?” the statement issued by the APC campaign said.
“So many respected experts on the national economy have condemned the wanton waste of the country’s hard currency earnings at the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC). Worse still, those in charge have treated Nigerians with impunity by hiding the facts relating to petro-dollar trade from the taxpayers. Some of them have been gallivanting and globe-trotting around the world in luxury while their compatriots languish in poverty and squalor”, the statement added.
The campaign team also questioned the audacity of President Jonathan, the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and NNPC in disobeying the NASS request to scrutinise the KPMG audit of an alleged grossly corrupt government agency, NNPC.
“Is the NNPC a sacred cow? And should the President be an umpire in a game to which he’s a contender, or a judge in his own case?.
“Is the President and his Petroleum Minister telling Nigerians that no wrong has been done in terms of stealing of public funds? If corruption was established in any form, is anyone listed for punishment?” the statement asked.
“It is pertinent to put all these information in the public domain for third party verification. The PriceWaterHouseCoopers report funded by taxpayer’s money is itself a public property. And until this is done, the NNPC under Jonathan shall remain in public consciousness the abattoir for corruption, immodesty, dishonesty and impunity”, the APC campaign team concluded.
Jonathan Extols Shagari’s Virtues On 90th Birthday
President Goodluck Jonathan has extolled the virtues of former President Alhaji Shehu Shagari, describing him as a committed patriot and outstanding leader.
The president, who stated this in a letter he personally wrote to congratulate the former leader on his 90th birthday, said the present administration will continue to count on Shagari’s support and solidarity.
Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Dr. Reuben Abati, noted in a statement yesterday that Jonathan wrote to felicitate with Shagari on the occasion of his 90th birthday, which is today (Tuesday).

The statement quoted the president as writing: “It is with profound joy that I write on behalf of my family, the Government and people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, and on my own behalf, to express very warm felicitations to you.
“I join your family, friends and well-wishers to thank Almighty Allah for His continued guidance, protection and provision for you in the past ninety years of a life of forthrightness and outstanding leadership with which He has blessed you.

FG To Pay N264bn Fuel Subsidy By March End
The Federal Government, Monday, scheduled to pay off about N264 billion between now and end of March, as subsidy reimbursement applications submitted to marketers as at end of January 2015.
A breakdown showed that the sum comprises 2014 outstanding debts of N164 billion in addition to N100 billion derived from foreign exchange and bank interest charges.
The decision was arrived at a crucial meeting with the Ministries of Finance, Petroleum Resources, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and oil marketers in Abuja on Monday at the instance of the Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
The decision to pay off the marketers’ outstanding subsidies plus forex differentials and interest rates became necessary to douse supply pressure on premium motor spirit (PMS), also known as petrol, which Nigerians have been struggling to get in recent days.
Executive Secretary, Major Marketers Association of Nigeria (MOMAN) Obafemi Olawore, confirming the development in Lagos, yesterday. “The Minister (Okonjo-Iweala) met with marketers and gave a schedule of payment for outstanding subsidy invoices from now till the end of March.”
He told journalists that the payment schedule got the nod of principals across the majors, independents and depot market operators. As a result, “product supply that should have gone down will now pick up again. Also, any current tightness noticeable in the market is only temporary.”
The MOMAN secretary admitted that supply was tightened because marketers had reached and exceeded their loan limits with the banks, and as such, are unable to access any more bank facilities. Devaluation of the naira had also made getting loans from the banks more difficult.
“Before devaluation, the exchange rate was N171.36 -$1, while landing cost for PMS was N90.67/litre. As inter-bank rate went up to N188-$1, landing cost also rose to N98.36/l . As at today (yesterday), with exchange rate now N199-$1, landing cost rose to N103.45/l, and if it now moves to N215-$1, landing cost will move to N110.84/l,” Olawoore said.
Consequently, he argued that the successive devaluation of the Naira had eaten up any benefit that would have been derived from the falling price of oil at the international market, a development that has seen the rise of the pump prices of other fuel products such as kerosene, diesel and aviation fuel.
With the devaluation of the Naira, the amount the Federal Government is paying as subsidy on PMS, yesterday, rose to N31.08 per litre. As it stands, if petrol is deregulated and subsidy on the product is removed, a litre of PMS would cost N118.08.
I Took Off My UNDERWEAR Then, I...... (EXCLUSIVE STORY)
A True Life Story, Written by a COLLEGE GIRL before she gave up the Ghost. I Took Off My UNDE RWEAR….. I used to be that innocent girl who had the world at her feet.
I was beautiful and I had eyes and HIPS that could make men sway, and to top it all up, I was a Christian, a very good Christian with a heart burning for God.
When I entered the university, I met a guy, his name was DERRICK. I couldn’t believe my luck the first time I bumped into him on my way to class, he had such a kind smile and a tender look that weakened my knees when he spoke. Because I was late for class we couldn’t talk much but barely three weeks later, I met him at the fresher’s night party and I was overwhelmed.
We got talking and I found out that he was in his second year and from that night, we became an inseparable pair. At first, we were friends and as months passed by, we got closer and closer and the chemistry between us was undeniable.
About a year after I entered the university, Derrick and I started dating. He was everything a girl could ever want and desire save the fact that he wasn’t so much of a Christian. Derrick had magical hands that made him hard to resist and most times I fell for it.
At first, I felt bad but when I couldn’t help falling into the same pit I killed the guilt on my inside. And then one day, one of my friends said I was getting fatter and that got me thinking and in the process I began to link the dots…first I had a vomiting spree every morning which I thought was due to a flu and then I had this morning sickness which I felt was due to stress and then my missing period…oh no it can’t be possible I said to myself, I couldn’t be pregnant!!! After a series of test outside school, I realized the deadliest truth, I was indeed pregnant. I was only nineteen, I still had a whole life ahead of me, what was I going to do.
I couldn’t tell my parents, they wouldn’t hear of it. Ihad to go to Derrick to tell him what I had found out. On telling him, I saw him fly into a temper I had never seen in my life. He was so hysterical, calling me all sorts of names and I didn’t even know when I started crying heart drenching tears of hurt and betrayal. When he looked into my eyes he must have realized how scared and hurt I was and so he pulled me close and ran his hands through my hair until I had calmed down and then he said to me in the most subtle voice ever ”why don’t you have an abortion”.
I pulled back instantly, I couldn’t have an abortion! But when he talked about my parents and the sanctioning of the school and the fellowship which I belonged to, I knew I had no other choice.
Derrick had made all the arrangements and so on the supposed day we went to the room- like clinic. I shivered all through my way there but Derrick kept telling me that it would be okay and that he was proud that I made such a brave decision.
When I entered into the room where the abortion was supposed to take place I laid down on the table trying to dissociate my mind from what I was about to do and then a young man told me sternly, ” you know I can’t perform this procedure with your UNDE RWEAR on” and then I began to pull it off.
As I did this a sense of guilt overwhelmed me, first I had pulled off my UNDE RWEAR of pleasure and now I was pulling it off to get rid of the stigma the pleasure had brought what a shame, I felt so exposed.
All through the times that I felt instruments coming in and out of me, I kept thinking of the lady I had become and the hypocrite I had transformed into.
I let out a sigh, only if I can get through this I muttered… only if…and then I felt a sharp pain pierce through the whole of my body, I screamed but then the doctor told me to be quiet. I felt another pain but this time I bit my lip and then the pain began to come in successions.
I instinctively knew that something was wrong but I was too weak totally or to move and then I heard the voices of Derrick and the doctor talking about the fact that I was bleeding excessively. The pain was so unbearable and I could feel myself getting weaker and weaker.
With the last strength in me, I pleaded with God”Oh Lord I’m so sorry for taking my under wears off, please forgive me.” and I drifted into a world where the pain seemed less hurtful and the voices seemed more distant. Friends, our bodies are the temple of the Lord. Do not take off your UNDE RWEAR when the time is not right.

MEET The Talented 10-Year-Old Nigerian Girl Accepted On University Course In The UK
Meet a talented 10-year-old Nigerian girl, Esther Okade, who has been recently been accepted to study for a university maths degree in the UK.
Esther spends her free time in a similar way to many other girls of her age. She plays with Barbie dolls and makes loom bands. But the main difference between the girl and other 10-year-old children is that she has been accepted to study for a university maths degree – despite not going to school.
Esther, from Walsall, West Midlands, UK, has enrolled on an Open University course months after she passed her A-levels. The talented girl has also confessed that she wants to study for a PhD before running her own bank and becoming a millionaire.
Unbelievably, the girl gained a C grade in her maths GCSE when she was 6 years old.
But Esther is not the only gifted child in her family. Her 6-year-old brother Isiah is already studying for his A-levels too.

‘Esther is doing so well. She took a test recently and scored 100 per cent. Applying to the university was an interesting process because of her age.
‘We even had to talk to the vice-chancellor. After they interviewed her they realised that this has been her idea from the beginning. From the age of seven Esther has wanted to go to university.
‘But I was afraid it was too soon. She would say, “Mum, when am I starting?”, and go on and on and on. Finally, after three years she told me, “Mum, I think it is about time I started university now”,’ the mother said.
Mrs Okade said that her daughter was extremely happy when she was accepted by the university. |
Mrs Okade said that her daughter was extremely happy when she was accepted by the university and added that Esther would study for her degree at home.
‘For now we want her to enjoy her childhood as well as her maths. By the time she was four I had taught her the alphabet, her numbers, and how to add, subtract, multiply and division.
‘I saw that she loved patterns so developed a way of using that to teach her new things. I thought I would try her with algebra, and she loved it more than anything.’
Esther made her parents proud of her when she was accepted onto the course at the Open University. The girl’s father Paul, full of emotion, said:
‘I cannot tell you how happy and proud I am as a father. The desire of every parent is to see their children exceed them, and take the family name to great heights, and my children have done just that.’
