Former
acting governor of Delta State, Prince Sam Obi who is presently
representing Ika North-East Constituency at the Delta State House of
Assembly has declared his intention to contest for the Governorship
position in the state in the 2015 elections.
Prince Obi, a Pastor
has said he has been spiritually ordained to take over from Governor
Emmanuel Uduaghan in 2015 and has set machinery in motion to actualize
his governorship ambition.
In a meeting of his followers held at
the Nelrose Hotels, Asaba on Friday, Prince Obi stated that it was an
achievable course and urged his followers not to waver as he has the
material and human support to achieve the goals.
According to
Prince Obi, he desires the commitments of his followers reiterating that
he was confident of winning in the elections.
Those who spoke at the occasion commended Prince Obi for his desire to govern the state in 2015 and pledged to work with him.
They
observed that Prince Obi displayed his capability of governing the
state when as a Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, he acted
as Governor when the court called for re-run election in the
Governorship election of the state.
The
meeting was attended by five trusted delegates from each of the nine
local government areas of Delta North Senatorial District.
Prince Obi is the first aspirant for the position to openly call for such meeting and made his intentions open.
Other
likely contenders in the race include, a former Commissioner in the
State, Chief Clement Ofuani, the Senator representing Delta North
Senatorial District, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and the Speaker of the Delta
State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Ochei.
