Govt Pledges N100m Grant To Delta Poly, Ozoro
THE Delta State Government has pledged a grant of N100 million towards the construction of the sports complex project at the Delta State Polytechnic, Ozoro, lsoko North Local Government Area.
This pledge was made by the state Governor, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, during the second convocation ceremony held recently at the institution’s convocation arena.
While commending the Rector of the institution, Dr Jacob Oboreh and the management on the giant strides recorded so far to fast track both academic and infrastructural development, he noted that the resourceful and judicious use of the Internally Generated Revenue(IGR) had taken the institution a milestone ahead.
The governor, however, urged students to pay more attention to entrepreneurial skills beside their acquired certificates, adding that the state government was committed to agricultural technologgy driven programmes in order to generate enterprise for graduated students of the Department of Agriculture.
The Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Jacob Oboreh, in his address at the occasion, thanked the governor for his tremendous support, especially in the areas of prompt payment of staff salaries, and all others who had contributed to the development of the institution while calling on the governor to grant the polytechnic the approval to fill the positions of 180 staff who had exited the service of the institution, and recruitment of additional 40 academic staff of the rank of lecturer one as well as engaging the service of 10 senior lecturers.
