Following the drastic fall in the team’s performance
recently, Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho has banned any form of joke
from his players during training sessions.
The Telegraph reports with reference to senior Chelsea sources, that there have not been any crisis meetings, following the defeat at Everton.
The club has also described a reported bust-up between captain John Terry and striker Diego Costa, as “utter nonsense”.
But Mourinho has so far noted that there should be no ranting and raving at his underperforming players, and Chelsea’s Cobham training ground has subsequently been reduced to a mere ‘dark spot’.
As the club seeks to return to the pinnacle of football in the English league, the coach is likely to shuffle his team again for the visit of Maccabi Tel Aviv, with Oscar expected to return to the starting line‑up in his favoured No 10 role.
Willian, Radamel Falcao and Loïc Rémy have also been tipped to make a return to the starting line up as a way of putting pressure on the more established players, who have been struggling with form all season.
The Maccabi Tel Aviv manager, Slavisa Jokanovic, who spent two years as a midfielder at Chelsea, has backed Ivanovic and team-mate Nemanja Matic, stating: “It’s not just a question over these two players, it’s the team.
“Ivanovic has played seven years at Chelsea and is one of the most important players in their recent history, playing in many key games and scoring vital goals. Matic is still relatively new there, but was fantastic last season.”
The Chelsea manager was also said to have had his eyes on Arsene Wenger’s job at Arsenal, in the event that he is sent packing for the second time at the Stamford Bridge.
