100 Days: PDP Faults APC Attack On Delta Govt
The Delta State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has described as baseless and malicious, a recent media report credited to the Delta State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), claiming that the PDP- led government in Delta State has nothing to show for its 100 days in office.
Reacting to the report, the Delta State PDP chairman, Chief Edwin Uzor, said the state APC lacked the moral justification to score the PDP- led government in the state when APC controlled states have not done better.
Chief Uzor, said within 48 days of assuming office, the Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, presented to the state House of Assembly, the Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency Bill and the Technical and Vocational Education Board Bill ,which were passed within the first week in office and have been assented to by the governor.
The Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) law, Chief Uzor said , was also amended through a bill presented to the state legislature by the governor, which has been passed, assented to and the new DESOPADEC board constituted to impact more positively on oil producing areas of the state, while a bill for a law to establish the Delta State Contributory Health Commission has passed the second reading in the state House of Assembly.
He said over one 1,500 youths, drawn from the 25 local government areas of the state are currently undergoing training in various trades in the first phase of the job creation programme of the PDP led government in Delta State, which aims to create 6,000 jobs every six months, adding that the Technical Colleges in Agbor, Ofagbe and Sapele were being comprehensively overhauled, while the Patani and Abavo General Hospitals were being renovated.
On the appointments so far made, the state PDP boss said the appointees are technocrats and grassroots politicians, who would bring about stability in governance and consolidate the gains already made in the system for greater efficiency and overall benefit of all Deltans
Chief Uzor urged Deltans to discountenance the said report in its entirety as it lacked substance and increase their support for the PDP led government in the Delta State.
