THE Special Adviser to the Delta State Governor on Local Government Affairs, Hon. Joseph Otirhue, has scored the present administration high within the first 100 days in office, saying the state government has taken bold and proactive steps in positively repositioning the economic and commercial index of the state.
Hon. Otirhue, who stated this at the weekend in Asaba, said that the administration of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa has demonstrated strong commitment to improving the socio-economic lives of the people of the state given the decisions he has so far taken and the policy direction of his administration.
While observing that 100 days was very significant in the life of any administration as it is a pointer to what should be expected in the future, the Special Adviser disclosed that Governor Okowa has put machinery in place for the overall development of the state.
“In the last 100 days the governor was able to resuscitate technical education with the release of funds for the massive renovation of three technical colleges in Sapele, Agbor and Ofagbe. These schools, when completed, will not only admit our children but will also create employment as well as boost technical knowledge in our state.
“There is also the upgrading of the Asaba International Airport, which will no doubt contribute to socio economic activities in the state. We equally have work going on in several hospitals across the state.
“Attention is now being paid to the Sapele and Orerokpe markets, which the governor promised during his electioneering campaign. Most importantly, serious attention is being given to skill acquisition, with the admission of about three hundred youths into the Songhai Skill Acquisition Centre in Amukpe, Sapele. All these are geared towards a better future for our dear state. And I think the governor deserves commendation for the steps so far taken,” he stated.
Hon Otirhue, while lauding Governor Okowa for taking steps to reposition DESOPADEC for efficient and effective service delivery to oil producing communities in the state, also commended him (Okowa ) for setting up an agency for the development of the state capital, Asaba.
He opined that Governor has consistently shown a pan Deltan outlook in his political engagement, which he stressed reflects in the appointments he has made, thereby giving everybody a true sense of belonging in the affairs of the state.
