Gombe APC Governorship Candidate Attacked By Hoodlums

The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the February 28 governorship election in Gombe State, Alhaji Inuwa Yahaya, was Tuesday evening, attacked by some hoodlums, who stormed his residence in Gombe.

Yahaya, who later spoke to journalists disclosed that the incident occurred at 6.00 p.m. According to him, the attacker stormed his house, located at the Government Reserve Area (GRA) in the state capital, while he was holding a meeting with some party faithful.

He said that the attackers were armed and destroyed valuable items in the building, including five vehicles, before they destroyed party billboards and posters.

The governorship aspirant’s security detail was injured and was rushed to an undisclosed hospital in Gombe, the Nigerian Tribune learnt.

Yahaya decried the inability of the state government to curtail the activities of hoodlums in the state.

Gombe state Commissioner of Police, Kudu Abdullahi Nma, however told journalists that he was not aware of the attack, until he got a petition sent in by the APC.
