Association Of Lab Scientists Disown ‘Fake’ Buhari Medical Report
The Association of Medical Laboratory Scientists of Nigeria (AMLSN) has disowned a medical report, which was purported to be the result of tests for the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Muhammadu Buhari.
The report was said have emanated from the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital Zaria, and purportedly undersigned by three staff.
AMLSN said its investigations at ABUTH indicates that the “report forms on which the results were written [were] fake and at variance with that of the teaching hospital”.
In a statement, the Public Relations Officer of AMLSN, Adeyeye Tam, said the three “medical doctors”, who signed the report forms – Dr Balla Mohammed, Dr Gamji A and Dr Bello Yau – are not on the payroll of the ABUTH.
“ABUTH Zaria management has since reported that there are no such ‘medical doctors’ on their staff list. So, efforts must be made to expose the fake medical doctors”, Tam said.
The association also noted that physicians or doctors do not have a professional duty or routine for specialized lab tests on patients’ samples, and “Neither is it their duty to approve or sign such results as seen on the report forms. This is the professional responsibility of Medical Laboratory Scientists registered and licensed to perform such professional duties”, the statement added.
It concluded that the report “must have emanated from quacks or persons with hidden agenda best known to them”.
The association also warned the public to beware of fake medical doctors and others parading as professionals.
