Okowa hails emergence of young monarch in Delta
ASABA—DELTA State governor, Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, yesterday, commended the people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom in Aniocha South Local Government Area of the state for the successful emergence of HRM Chukwuka Akaeze I as the Obi of the kingdom.
Okowa spoke when the young monarch, accompanied by the Chairman of the council, Chief Isaac Anwuzia, the Regent, Prince Anthony Ofulue, relatives and palace chiefs paid him a courtesy visit at Government House, Asaba.
Okowa, who condemned the manner in which the immediate past monarch, HRM Edward Ofulue III, passed on, said that the successful emergence of HRM Akaeze I was a signal that Ubulu-Uku Kingdom was on the path of progress.
Noting that the Obi was still in school, a situation which prompted the appointment of a Regent, Okowa said that the state government would give him, members of his family and his kingdom all the necessary support to move on.
He, however, advised the Obi to be conscious of the fact that his people and members of his kingdom were waiting for his return to apply his experience in leading them.
He said: “We want to encourage you to know that as you study, you have your people back home and that you are the custodian of their culture and customs as their royal father. We hope that soon, you will be through with your education and you will bring your experience to bear in the administration of your kingdom.”
Okowa assured the people of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom that those who were involved in the murder of Obi Ofulue III would be made to face the law, adding that some arrests had been made while security agencies were on the trail of others yet to be arrested.
Obi Chukwuka Akaeze I, who spoke earlier, thanked Governor Okowa, the government and people of the state for their show of love during the trying times of his kingdom.
The monarch sued for continuous support of the people to enable him succeed as the Obi of Ubulu-Uku.
It will be recalled that HRM Obi Ofulue III was kidnapped and murdered by suspected Fulani herdsmen on January 5.
