Uduaghan Assures Full Accreditation of Marine School
THE Delta State Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, has assured management of the Delta State School of Marine Technology, DESOMATEC, of the commitment of the present administration to ensure that the school is fully accredited by relevant authorities and make it world class standard.
The Transport Commissioner gave the assurance when he led top officials of the Ministry on as familiarization visit to the Marine School, Burutu.
Addressing the Provost and Management Staff of the Delta State School of Marine Technology, DESOMATEC, the Commissioner for Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan, emphasized that the visit was to familiarize himself with the Institution and have a first-hand information on challenges facing it.
He stated that the present administration is committed towards improving the standard of education in the State, particularly, the Marine College, with a view of training quality manpower for the Maritime sectors.
The Transport Commissioner assured the Management of the Marine School that the Ministry will do everything possible to tackle the transportation problem faced by students on a regular basis.
Mr. Uduaghan tasked the Management of the Marine School to strive towards bringing out the best from the students, as well as ensure that the visions of the Delta State Government in establishing the School are met.
He urged the students to be serious with their studies, and promised that the accreditation problem of some courses in the school will soon be a thing of the past, as the Okowa administration is poised to raise the School to world-class standard.
Earlier, the Provost of the Delta State School of Marine Technology, Burutu, Dr. Johnson Ditimi, briefed the Commissioner on the accreditation and other problems facing the Marine School and solicited for support from the State Government through the Transport Commissioner, with a view of solving them.
The State Commissioner for Transport and top officials of the Ministry later inspected workshop, ongoing projects and some facilities in the Marine School established in April, 2011 by the Delta State Government.
