GREAT GREETINGS AND KUDOS TO ALL DELTANS DIASPORA MEMBERS WOLRDWIDE!
By Onyiye Olomu
My dear Compatriots in the Struggle for the realization of the Vision of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa for a Prosperous Delta State, I salute you.Even as we prepare to chart the way forward for our noble Online Body called Deltans Diaspora, I have thought it somewhat necessary to humbly address you-my dear 'elder ' and ' younger' brothers and sisters -on this great Platform.
I begin by asserting that it is indeed factual that virtually all other Online Platforms now recognize DD as the unbeatable trailblazer and pacesetter which even though they castigate openly sometimes, still retains their admiration and acquiescence as the champion of the 'Online Business' when they are in their various closets. However,it suffices to say here that all of these accolades and awe only could come as a result of your invaluable inputs and toils particularly throughout the electioneering/elections period. In no small measures, your labours contributed to the eventual emergence of our respectable Sen Dr Ifeanyi Okowa as the Governor of Delta State. Hence, for all of these your labours, toils and sacrifices,I pray that posterity and generations ahead of us ever remember you for good especially when someday, the story of the attainment of the political watershed of Delta State is told.
Dear folks, let me quickly also intimate us of the ignoble intent of our opponents to break our ranks by specifically seeking to cause unwarranted disaffection among us. Indeed, they seek to portray us as persons who only participated in the Okowability Mandate for ONLY the reasons of selfish and pecuniary gains. However, even if these 'no joy' opponents CANNOT stand to deny the muted BUT potent DESIRE of every labourer(including themselves of course) to enjoy reward for one's labour, it reeks of obvious hypocrisy for them to simply attempt to gloss over your uncountable sacrifices in terms of time, sleepless nights, spendings on online -related airtime, gadgets and facilities and so on through their tacit insinuations that you are somewhat 'unqualified ' in the current Government for rewards commensurate with your labours.
In the Meantime, we equally wish to inform them that should they presume or think that the Governor is UNMINDFUL and UNWILLING to reward us for all of these labours, that they are potentially bargaining for a rude shock soon. Indeed,we know this is no ruse: the Governor Okowa we know and who happens to be an ardent adherent, practitioner and promoter of the now-famous CONCEPT of 'Monkey Work,Monkey Chop ',is poised to come rewarding and appreciating us very soon. However ,what everyone one of us would admit is that it is required that we give the Governor SOME more time to sort out and assiduously tackle the economic quagmire and entanglement that the State was plunged into BEFORE the advent of his Administration.
Again, let me draw our attention to another of the divisive tools of our opponents. It is laughable that these opponents desire us to swallow the dummy that our respected Founders,Comrades Dantes and Happiness Odogwu sold out by 'using' us as pawns to achieve their political aims. Although this piece is NOT intended as a literary stunt to defend the Odogwus ,permit that I humbly say that having under -studied them, I find the couple as persons with genuine INTENTIONS for DD.
For some time now,I have particularly worked closely with Comrade Dantes and I am glad to report here that the man always keeps talking about the welfare of you beloved folks and equally endeavours to reach out to the political elite in Delta State on matters that pertain to DD members. Yes,Comrade Dantes that we know may be unassuming and taciturn, but his knack and penchant to selflessly pursue the cause of others I think, is insurmountable.
Moreover, never mind those who always think that by one saying this, that one is probably playing to the gallery in order to be favoured. Anyway, apart from stating this fact to our traducers that most of us as DD members are actively engaged economically,it becomes pertinent to ask them what is now wrong if our arrowheads be FIRST rewarded BEFORE others like you and I come along? I reckon that with the reported drive of the Odogwus for the acknowledgment and placement of DD members, that soon enough, our BATCHES of rewards will begin to come in from an appreciative Governor.
Lastly, even as I wish us fruitful deliberations on the way forward for DD, I encourage us with this common saying that: IT IS DEFINITELY NOT OVER UNTIL IT IS ALL OVER. Yes,with the much that we have collectively achieved in DD,it would do us well not to give our unrepentant critics and opponents room to erroneously insinuate that afterall, they were probably right in doubting our unalloyed commitment and loyalty to same Cause that we have constantly avowed that we believe in.
Comrades,it high time we stood and remained focused!
May God bless the House of DD
