Buhari’s Decision To Suspend Immigrations Boss Too Hasty – Rep

The member representing Pankshin/Kanke/Kanam Federal Constituency of Plateau State in the House of Representatives, Timothy Golu, has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s suspension of the Comptroller General of the Nigeria Immigration Service, David Parradang.

Buhari had on Friday suspended Parradang for reportedly recruiting 1,000 persons illegally into the service. The president also directed him to hand over to Martin Abeshi, who is the next most senior officer.

However, the lawmaker said the decision to suspend Parradang, who hails from Plateau State, was rash and too hasty.

“As leader of the nation, Buhari is eroding the public confidence of people by being reactionary each time an issue is presented before him. I recall that the president had taken such misinformed decisions twice or thrice when he had to overrule himself because he was not properly briefed.

“He should have called the suspended CGI and ask questions and where he is dissatisfied, he can take proper decisions and be able to tell Nigerians what happened. How can a permanent secretary query a CGI that is not appointed by him? That was insubordination and indiscipline, which the president himself is promoting and will not mean well for his much talked about anti-corruption crusade”, Rep. Golu said.
