As part of the celebration galore for the victory of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the April 11 Governorship and House Assembly elections, the Delta State House of Assembly has congratulated the Governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa for his emergence as the Governor-elect of Delta State.
The
House, presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Peter Onwusanya, also
congratulated the lawmakers for their landslide victory in the April 11
polls.
The Speaker, who spoke alongside the Majority Leader, Hon Monday Igbuya, said the House was elated over the elevation of the member representing Aniocha South constituency, Hon (Mrs.) Onyeamachi Mrakpor as House of Representatives-elect to represent Aniocha/Oshimili Federal constituency seat in the National Assembly following her victory in the April 11 polls.
The Speaker expressed appreciation to Deltans for their support and all those who had made his or her presence during the course of the elections and particularly thanked the state governor, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, for delivering Delta State for PDP.
He said the incoming administration of the Governor-elect, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa will deliver on the dividends of democracy already laid down by the outgoing administration of Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan and urged all Deltans to continue to support the administration of PDP in the state.
Meanwhile, Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) yesterday passed four bills for second reading on the floor of the House.
The bills include: Fiscal Responsibility (Amendment) Bill, 2011; Delta State One-Stop Investment Centre Bill); Public Procurement Commission (Amendment) Bill and Traditional Rules and/Chiefs (Amendment) Bill, 2014.
The House, presided by the Speaker, Rt. Hon Peter Onwusanya, said the aforementioned bill will be considered for second reading at later dates before the end of the Fifth Assembly.
In another development, the House will today, screen Mr. Edward Erhieyovwe for appointment as Secretary, Udu Local Government Area and directed him to appear before the House at 10:00 am today with copies of his credentials.
