Group urges Clark, Tompolo, Manager to pick consensus running mate for Okowa

WARRI—A group, Delta Ijaw Political Forum, DIPF, in Delta State, yesterday, urged the Ijaw national leader, Chief Edwin Clark, Senator James Manager and former militant leader, Chief Government Ekpemupolo, alias Tompolo, to harmonise their differences on the choice of running mate to People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa.

“We want the Ijaw leaders to synchronize their differences and jointly present a credible and generally acceptable Ijaw person as Okowa’s running mate to avoid dancing naked in the public,” the group’s Chairman, Mr Austin Ozobo, said yesterday, in Warri.

Vanguard has learned that former chairman, Committee of Petroleum Resources Upstream, House of Representatives, Tam Brisibe, was also jostling for the deputy governorship position.

Ozobo, who urged the three leaders to harmonize their position, enjoined Senator Manager and Tompolo to drop their separate aspirations and support Dr. Bruce Angozi, believed to be Chief Clark’s candidate.

Whereas Senator Manager was said to be pushing J.T. Government, Tompolo was reportedly behind the emergence of Mr Kingsley Otuaro, a DESOPADEC commissioner, as Okowa’s running mate.
