Former Kaduna PDP Senator, Zagi Defects To APC

The Kaduna State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, yesterday announced that Senator Caleb Zagi, who represented Southern Kaduna Senatorial District in the National Assembly from 2007 to 2011 on the platform of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has formally defected to the party.

Zagi’s latest defection would make it the second time he has left the PDP for another political party.

The publicity secretary of APC in the state, Dr. Bege Katuka, who made the announcement in a chat with journalists, also said that the leadership of his party had accepted Senator Zagi into its fold.

Katuka said “We have formally received Senator Zagi back to our party and it is a good development, we are pleased with his return back to where things are working.

“Zagi explained that it was a second chance he gave the PDP, but on getting back to the party, the internal democracy mechanism he thought would be addressed was a mirage. The imposition of candidates and outright bending of party rules is still the order of the day.

“There is nothing empirical that shows it is development and welfare of Nigerians that is their focus; instead they just want to acquire power for selfish interests and for all these reasons, we are in the same direction and page”.

Katuka further disclosed that the APC would soon receive prominent members of the ruling party into its fold.

“I can tell you that very soon, other prominent members of the ruling party will join us, it is matter of time and you will see it soon. It is a testimony that we are unstoppable in this state”, he added.
