REVEALED: Why Dasuki Is In Trouble

Information emerging from Nigeria’s security sources indicates that the present ordeal of former national security adviser (NSA), Sambo Dasuki, is due to the alleged mismanagement of funds while he served as the NSA.

It is rumoured that President Muhammadu Buhari ordered the arrest of Dasuki because he was the army officer who led soldiers to arrest him (Buhari) on the day he was overthrown as military head of state in August 1985.
Dasuki’s residence in Asokoro district of Abuja was occupied by officers of the SSS between Thursday and yesterday.

The security operatives reportedly took with them $40,000, three automatic rifles and Dasuki’s travel documents when they vacated the house.

According to The Sun, all funds budgeted for the war against Boko Haram and other security issues were all handled in Dasuki’s office while he served as Nigeria’s NSA. There are allegations that the funds were not used for the purpose they were budgeted for, but rather were mismanaged.

Dasuki was also said to have usurped the powers of the former minister of defence, Gen. Aliyu Gusau (rtd), by taking charge of defence contracts, including the purchase of arms and ammunition that used to be under the Ministry of Defence.

It was also alleged that with the huge funds controlled his office, all security chiefs began reporting to Dasuki, and that some of the funds were used to finance the ruling Peoples Democratic Party’s election campaign.
Meanwhile, the Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose, has described Dasuki’s arrest as a sign of dictatorship.
