Retiring Police Officers To Get 2-bedroom Flats After Service – IGP Reveals
The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Mr Solomon Arase, has said that he is working out a scheme for every officer to own a two-bedroom house on retirement.
Arase made this known while briefing officers and men of the Bauchi State Command in Bauchi yesterday.
He said police would work out the plan with mortgage banks to ensure that retiring police officers owned houses in places they want to spend their retirement.
Arase also said he was working out welfare packages for officers from the rank of inspector down the ladder to give them a sense of belonging.
He said he was always concerned whenever a policeman was killed, hence the need to put welfare packages in place for them.
Arase said he considered the removal of road blocks from highways as part of crime prevention strategies in the country.
He urged the officers to always separate criminal cases from civil cases and to mediate between two parties in civil cases, and not treat them as criminals.
Arase warned them against any act that could lead to litigation against the police and to behave in civil manner.
He warned policemen attached to governors and others, to refrain from using whips and canes on motorists on highways for perceived obstruction of the convoys of their principals.
