Onuesoke and the Network for Good Governance
By Lucky Fasa Eghagbevwa
Chief Sunny Onuesoke is a Delta state Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, one time Delta State governorship aspirant, and one politician who has distinguished himself in all aspects of human endeavor.
ONUESOKE- Sunny Onuesoke is a man well respected and loved by the people of Delta State, not essentially because he is generous but through his foundation, The Onuesoke Foundation, he has touched so many lives.
Not withstanding the fact that Deltans failed to see who this humanitarian is and decided otherwise in the 2007 gubernatorial election, yet he has continued to show his love to his people through scholarships to indigent and down trodden in the society and the restoration of our environment so as to reduce the negative effect of climate change on all of us.
Onuesoke has devoted himself totally and sparing nothing in his quest at filling up the gap left by the government of the state on the life of the Delta child. He has given financially, materially, psychologically and morally to the restoration of these kids who wallow in abject poverty and absolute neglect.
I met Network for Good Governance (N4GG) Boss, Chief Sunny Onuesoke over eleven years ago in Warri at Daddy’s bakery where he came to eat with his Delta State governorship aspirant posters in his hand.
I introduced myself to him as the contractor committee Chairman of Enerhen community. He was pleased to meet me and quickly shared with me his vision for Delta state. Though I laughed at him then, but he later proved beyond reasonable doubt that he is a leader with a golden heart. He is a perfectionist and expects high professionalism from everyone that work with him.
He is a man with a great vision and I believe strongly that Onuesoke will complement the government of our amiable governor, Dr Oghenegare Ifeanyi Arthur Okow,a if made part of his administration.
For instance, when it was a taboo for an Urhobo to stand by a Delta North candidate as a governorship aspirant or candidate, Onosueke stood by our beloved Governor Ifeanyi Okowa convincing everyone and spending his money for the cause of Okowa.
I am not saying he is the only one that funded Okowa’s campaign, but he is the only one from Delta Central who spent his resources, time, energy and the N4GG crew both in public and door to door and even in the late hours of the night by coming out in public and boldly saying it that Okowa was the answer .
For this and all that he had done for the ordinary people of Delta State, Onuesoke deserves a pat on his back. Like Senator Ighoyota Amori, Onuesoke believes in developing and empowering talent and this he had evidently done to the best of his ability.
For this and many more I wish to dedicate this acknowledgementpiece to him so that others may also know who the man Onuesoke is. He was born without a silver spoon, yet, he shares the fruit of his personal struggle with the less privileged. I can only hope that you keep him in mind and also support in this dream.
