Urhobos not anti-Jonathan - Group



 

The President of the Urhobo Nationalists Movement, Alhaji Mumakai- Unagha, has declared that the Urhobos are not anti Jonathan nor working against his interest come 2015.



The President of the Urhobo Nationalists Movement, Alhaji Mumakai- Unagha, has declared that the Urhobos are not anti Jonathan nor working against his interest come 2015.
Mumakai – Unagha told journalists that what the Urhobos were demanding for was representation in the Federal cabinet as people who contributed and still contributing to the social political development of the nation.

 According to him, as the 5th largest ethnic nationality in Nigeria with vast economic resources of oil and gas that is sustaining the nation for over fifty years, the Urhobos deserves a better treatment. He said the Urhobos had been marginalized in all fronts and demand remediation.
 The activist said that the Urhobos could not go their own way in the Niger Delta struggle, pointing out that all the ethnic groups in the area need one another.
    
 He particularly noted that the Urhobos and the Ijaws were the closest people in the region with common aspirations and feelings that also suffered long in the hands of the majority tribes in Nigeria.
 Speaking on the political situation in Delta, he noted that the Anioma agenda would not work in Delta.
 He said in Delta, there were so many ethnic agenda which the people held tenaciously to their chest, stressing that the Anioma agenda was not the Urhobo, Isoko, Itsekeri and the Ijaws agenda.

 Alhaji Mumakai Unagha maintained that what Deltans needs was a candidate that transcend beyond ethnic and religious belief, pointing out that when the time comes they would select the boys from the men.

He warned against ethnicising the polity of the state which he said was dangerous to the overall development of the state. Alhaji Mumakai Unagha said that the Urhobos would contest the 2015 governorship election.
