25th July 2013
His Excellency,
Dr. Emmanuel E. Uduaghan CON
Executive Governor of Delta State, Nigeria,
Government House, Asaba,
Delta State.
RE: THREATS TO MY LIFE AND ATTEMPTS TO INDUCE ANOTHER STATE OF CRISIS IN ABAVO AND THE IKA NATION BY THE OBI OF OWA, HRM DR. E.O. EFEIZOMOR
UNWARRANTED ATTACK ON HRM, OBI (DR.) E.O. EFEIZOMOR J.P., OON, OBI OF OWA KINGDOM BY UCHE IRENUMA
We have read most painfully the unfortunate, inconsequential, frivolous and baseless petition addressed to the Executive Governor of Delta State by Uche Irenuma, the embattled Obi of Abavo kingdom, which was published in the Ika Weekly Newspaper Edition Vol 3: No. 276 of Saturday, July 20 – Saturday, July 27, 2013.
Ordinarily, we would have maintained a dignified silence over the sadistic and unsubstantiated allegations perpetrated by Uche Irenuma, however, in view of the personality involved and the dire consequences such silence may bring to bear on the hitherto cordial relationship which existed between the Obi and people of Owa Kingdom and the Royal family and people of Abavo kingdom we deemed it necessary to react to the said publication and set the facts straight.
Gov. E. Uduaghan |
Whereas, Abavo community and Prince Chukwuka Sunday Ekhator are in the Agbor High Court with Uche Irenuma over the proper person to occupy the Abavo throne, the Police at Abavo are not aware of the alleged threats as it was not reported to them by Uche Irenuma. He is merely crying wolf over nothing as the people of Abavo are not aware of any threat from outside Abavo on him or any member of his family.
We have it on good information that about two months ago Uche Irenuma in circumstances of highly questionable import openly attacked HRM, the Obi of Owa, Dr. E.O. Efeizomor II J.P. OON, at the Delta State meeting of the Traditional Rulers Council. The incident we are told was duly reported to relevant Government Authorities, which report is likely to be out soon. By the publication Uche Irenuma is only pre-empting the outcome of the report of his show of shame and aggression on the Obi of Owa, Dr. E O Efeizomor II J.P., OON. This cheat and cultist called Uche Irenuma now wants to escape punishment for his unruly and unbecoming behaviour in public which has been of serious concern to the Abavo community.
Uche Irenuma’s story is false and unbelievable and calculated to mislead the public. The death of the Eleme of Obianyima, Chief Vincent Chinyem over Uche Irenuma’s guts for oil money is still hunting him as he is running from arrest for his inglorious role in the murder case. Uche Irenuma is acting on his own and cannot speak for Abavo community today. He has arrested over 50 Abavo indigenes who were detained in Asaba and in Federal Prisons Agbor over trumped-up charges. Luckily, however, they have been set free by the courts but not after they spent many months in detention. Whatever crisis that exists in Abavo community today, is created and sustained by Uche Irenuma and his cohorts and they should be held responsible for same.
Uche Irenuma will stop at nothing but smear the good image of Obi Dr. E.O. Efeizomor II J.P., OON, 1st Vice-Chairman of the Delta State Council of Traditional Rulers who is a man of Honour. We note that the Royal family and people of Abavo are in good terms with Owa community our boundary neighbours and their Traditional Ruler.
We must therefore, apologise to Obi Dr. E.O. Efeizomor II J.P., OON and the people of Owa kingdom over this unwarranted attack and brigandage of a recalcitrant son of ours who is causing Abavo sons and others embarrassment and untold hardship.
We appeal to you Mr. Governor to call Uche Irenuma to order and consider taking decisive action against him for this UNKINGLY attitude with a view to returning the Traditional Rulership in Delta State to the part of honour and dignity.
Yours Faithfully,
Prince Martin Jegbefume
Ahmed Ohioya Agbejagwe
Prince Mike Ekhator
