Deltans proud of Okowa – Okecha.

A university administrator, Professor Steve Okecha has described Delta State governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as a respected leader with a popular mandate, poised to restore the state on the path of economic prosperity and sustainable development.

Speaking at a forum of Ndokwa leaders and people held at Obiaruku in honour of the state Commissioner for Water Resources, Sir Fidelis Okenmor Tilijie, Professor Okecha, said Deltans across ethnic and political affiliations were proud of the governor’s integrity, intellect and detribalized temperament.

Okecha, who is the convener of the forum, urged Okowa to use his pedigree and public goodwill to effect a positive change in the lives of Deltans by tackling poverty and unemployment which are perennial challenges of the people.

He thanked Okowa for the appointment of the new commissioner for water resources and noted that Sir Tilijie would excel as a rising star of Ndokwa ethnic nationality. According to him, Ndokwa people were excited about Tilijie as an illustrious son, dependable friend and philanthropist. “We love his courage, vision and compassion. We deeply appreciate his respect for elders and love for the ordinary people”, he said.

In his remarks, the commissioner said the state government would soon send a water bill to the state House of Assembly aimed at ensuring portable and clean water in all borehole facilities in Delta, noting that test certification would be issued to the owners that meet standards.

Titlijie noted that the SMART agenda of Governor Okowa, was to create a very strong health base for Deltans as “you cannot grow economy well without sound health care devoid of water diseases and the dangerous consequences.”

The ceremony was witnessed by former Inspector General of Police, Sir Mike Okiro, Senator Peter Nwaoboshi representing Delta North and members of the state executive council, among other dignitaries.
