KEY INTO GOVT. SMART AGENDA OKOWA TELLS PROFESSIONAL BODIES- IKA WEEKLY.


The Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on Professional bodies in the state to key into the SMART Agenda of the state government so as to join hands in moving the state forward.

Governor Okowa, who was represented for Housing, Arch. Joe Aguoye, stated this during a courtesy visit by the Nigerian Institution of Estate Surveyors and Valuers (NIESV), Delta State branch, to the governor in Asaba.

Senator Okowa stated that the state government will welcome any question that will assist it to move forward especially, now that the financially situation of the country is dwindling saying that the suggestion on how to boost the internally Generated revenues (IGR) by the NIESU will be critically looked into and implemented.

He told the body that all suggestion on lands acquisition, issues of government properties and state IGR are actually key part in the SMART agenda and the state government would look into them thoroughly. The governor, who stated that the state intend to have a Delta State housing policy law, presented a draft document of the Housing Policy to NIESV for their construction before it is submitted to the State House of Assembly to be passed into Law.

He explained that government intend to seek more input from professional bodies like the Nigeria institute of Architects, Nigeria Society of Builders and the Nigerian Society of Town Planners to have a robust document.

Earlier, the chairman of the Society, Chief Efe Apih, Stated that they decided to pray that courtesy call on the governor to present their suggestions to the government on how to move the state forward and to congratulate him, on his inauguration as the governor of the state.

The highlight of the visit was the inauguration of the governor as the Grand Patron of the society, the presentation of a plaque and a certificate to the governor.
