THE cottage hospital at Azuowa –Abavo in Ika South Local Government Area of Delta State is to be completed by December this year, the Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Nicholas Azinge, has said.
Dr. Azinge dropped the hint during an inspection to the facility to ascertain the level of work done at the site.
He said although, the project was about 75 percent completed, more still needed to be done if the December target was to be met, explaining that more visits would be made to speed up the process as well as ensure that quality work was done.
The commissioner further stressed that some changes were expected to be made in order to make the project meet up required standards, adding that the facility on completion could be upgraded to a standard hospital.
He expressed pleasure at the pace of work on the project in recent time and commended the contracting firm in charge of the project, urging him to remain committed to meet the December deadline.
The commissioner was conducted round the facility in the company of the permanent secretary in the ministry of health, Dr. Sunday Otobo as well as some top management staff by an engineer in charge of the project.
The Azuowa- Abavo cottage hospital has been under construction since 2006 owing to lack of funding, but the present administration intervened to get it completed with facility currently being upgraded to that of a general hospital.
