The little boy was playing in the pool with his aunt when he dove under water to retrieve a toy from the drain. His arm then got stuck in the drain, and neither his aunt nor a maid could free him.
Fortunately, two men who had been working in the house reportedly came out when the maid screamed for help; they were able to get the child's arm unstuck.
Lil Usher was given CPR and then rushed by ambulance to the hospital, where he was admitted to the intensive care unit.
Usher, who was not at home when the accident happened, arrived in time to ride in the ambulance with him.
Usher and ex-wife Tameka Foster are also parents to 4-year-old son Naviyd Ely Raymond.
This is not the first accident to befall the family. In July 2012, Usher's 11-year-old former stepson -- Foster's son, Kile Glover -- was struck by a jet ski at Lake Lanier. He was declared brain dead the next day and died two weeks later.
