Sean Combs, popularly known as Diddy, has turned down a judging role on the 13th season of the American Idol because ex-flame Jennifer Lopez signed up for another series of the show.
The American rap mogul, who dated the singer in 1999, rejected the opportunity because of his romantic history with J.Lo and also because he used to be attached to her current manager Benny Medina.
Diddy was quoted to have said it’s “her or me” with regard to him appearing on American Idol. He finally decided he could not work at such closeness with his ex-girlfriend, Lopez.
The Latina singer’s younger lover, Casper Smart, had already confirmed that she was returning to the show.
Lopez, who was an Idol judge for the 2011 and 2012 seasons, reportedly approached the organisers about returning to the show because its production schedule in Los Angeles would allow her to spend more time with her children, 5-year-old twins Emme and Max, who will be starting school soon.
