Former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau announced yesterday he would not contest with former Head of State, General Muhammadu Buhari for the 2015 presidential ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC). He made this statement few days after the two ex-leaders resolved their age-long political rift.
Instead, Shekarau who spoke through his media aide, Mallam Sule Yau Sule said he is ready to take any position offered him under APC.
“Shekarau contested for the presidential election in 2011 because they were in different political parties with General Buhari. Now that they are in the same party, he will not contest against General Buhari because he holds him in high esteem and he is ready to abide by whatever General say. He has said that he will not contest if General is contesting,“
the spokesperson told Daily Trust correspondent in a telephone interview. He added that Buhari and Shekarau met in Kaduna, where they agreed to work together for the success of APC in Nigeria.
It will be reminded that a clash between General Buhari and Mallam Shekarau had started in 2005 when the General turned down the invitation of Shekarau to flag off the tricycles he purchased under the ‘A Daidaita Sahu’ programme.
