THE Chairman, Delta State Civil Service Commission (CSC), Dame Nkem Okwuofu, has warned staff of the commission against extorting money from civil servants and members of the public before carrying out their official/statutory duties, saying that anybody caught would be summarily dismissed.

Chief Okwuofu gave the warning during a maiden meeting in 2016 with the staff and members of the Civil Service Commission, shortly after a praise/worship session in the commission’s office in Asaba, yesterday.

She said that the commission was critical and strategic to actualizing a better and knowledge based civil service in the state, saying that the image of the commission should be positively projected and protected at all times.

The CSC boss equally charged the staff to be more dedicated to their duties, saying that all hands must be on deck to move the commission forward and that committed staff would be rewarded from time to time.

“Let us work together to build the commission and take it to an enviable height, that will be the pride of all Deltans”.

Dame Okwuofu who also advised the staff to be well dressed to the office; said that they are the ambassadors of the commission, and as such, they have no reason to dress shabbily.

She assured the staff of improved welfare, just as she cautioned them against lateness, absenteeism and indolence, disclosing that necessary measures were being put in place to reposition the commission for effective and efficient service delivery.

The CSC boss commended the staff for their support and cooperation in 2015, even as she solicited their support in the years ahead in order to achieve set goals.

In their remarks, some of the staff thanked Dame Okwuofu for her motherly advice and determination to enhance their welfare and work environment.

They assured her and members of the commission of their support, co-operation and commitment to move the commission, civil service and Delta State to the next level.
