OKOWA'S FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT KICKS OFF DEC 15.
The third edition of senator Football tournament will kick off on December 15,2015 at three different venues within Ika federal constituency.
This was disclosed by the coordinator of the tournament, Mr Lucky Sunday,a member of Delta Football Association at a pres conference held at Patric Okponmo Football House, Asaba, yesterday.
he noted that the Ika Federal Constituency consist of six wards and each ward will be represented in the tournament which will be played on knockout basis in the three selected venues for the games. The venues include Agbor Township Stadium, Owa Oyibu Township stadium and Ogbe Model Primary School, Umunede.
The football tournament which is being sponsored by Sebastine Okoh, the MD of Stiinos Nigeria Limited, has been since its inception some years ago and has added some innovations to encourage the players.
The prize money is N2million distributed among the first three teams and consolation prizes. The winner will go home with N1million; the second position will go home with N500,000 while the third position will take N300,000.
The remaining N200,000 will be for the best player of the tournament, the best goalkeeper, the best team and other prizes that the Board will consider necessary.
The coordinator however, informed that there are interested persons who want to join the sponsorship of the game but has not been concluded.
He disclosed that legend interior is very much interested to join the sponsorship but issue has not been concluded. He also noted that branded Jerseys have been provided and four branded buses for the tournament have been provided.
Mr. Sunday said that while the game is open to an extent, it is aimed at getting good players and enhance the development of their skills by helping them to secure a club that will help improve on their talents.
He further disclosed that four of them took part in the Golden Eaglets camp trials at Abuja while one of them is currently in Warri Wolves FC and another in Kogi United.
