OKOWA ASSURES OF CONSTRUCTION OF MORE ROADS IN DELTA
DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has said the Jeddo/Omadino road will be extended to the EagleFlight University to ensure speedy development of the area.
Governor Okowa made the disclosure (04/12/15) after inspecting the recently constructed road to the tankers' park and the Jeddo/Omadino road that was under construction.
According to Governor Okowa, EagleFlight University has brought development to that part of the state and his administration will compliment the private efforts by constructing roads and providing other facilities in the area.
He observed that the rehabilitation of the Jeddo/Omadino road has eased the sufferings of Deltans who had to make use of the bad road to their detriment.
Speaking on the tankers' park development, the Governor directed the Commissioner for Works, Chief James Augoye to liaise with his Finance counterpart in the Ministry of Finance to work out modalities to generate revenue from the multi-million naira takers park located at Ekpan, Uvwie local government area of the state.
According to him, construction of the road which involved concrete overlay to ensure that it survived the test of time was very vital as it has taken away tankers that caused traffic gridlock from the road, disclosing that the park has capacity for more than three hundred tankers.
On the need to generate revenue from the park, the Governor observed that there was no motor park that revenue was not generated and as such, modalities must be put in place to generate funds from the park to ensure its sustainability.
Governor Okowa was accompanied on the inspection visit by Commissioners and contractors handling the road projects, lauded the quality of work done on the roads,
