SMART AGENDA: PROSPERITY FOR ALL DELTANS REMAINS OUR FOCUS -- Okowa
Delta State Governor, Senator lfeanyi Okowa has disclosed that his administration would provide an enabling environment and peaceful platform for the success of his SMART agenda for the prosperity of all Deltans.
The governor who was speaking yesterday (29-9-15) at a Seminar/Symposium on “Policies of Prosperity in support of the SMART Agenda” organized by Force Movement and the Office of the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Orientation and Youth Development to the Governor in Warri said that the seminar was to inform Deltans of the programmes already put in place and how it was being organized to accommodate Deltans.
Okowa who was represented by his Chief of Staff (COS) Hon. Tam Brisibe stated that prosperity has to reflect in the well-being and environment of the people for it to be meaningful, stressing that that was the reason why his administration was committed to the empowerment of youths, women and all Deltans.
"Youths are the most vibrant and productive segment of the society, that is why government want to meaningfully engage them and build a peaceful platform for development." Okowa noted.
"Prosperity has to do with a better well-being for Deltans, the SMART Agenda is to address the issue of unemployment by encouraging and creating an enabling environment for job/wealth creation and for the development of the state." he said.
He further asserted that "The SMART agenda of his administration has been designed to provide prosperity for all Deltans."
Okowa also explained that peace was paramount to development saying "Without Peace there can be no meaningful development in the state, that is why this administration is not only empowering Deltans but also concerned about their health and education. The SMART Agenda covers the well-being of Deltans."
Explaining further, he opined that the SMART agenda was not for government alone but for Deltans to understand the initiative of government and work with government to actualize the vision for the betterment of all.
He disclosed that the administration would continue with the Micro Credit Scheme of the previous administration by providing incentives and starter packs to Deltans that have been trained to acquire various skills.
ln a brief welcome, the SSA to the Governor on Orientation, Barrister Eugene Uzum commended the governor for the various programmes of his administration to empower Deltans.
The resources persons at the seminar were Mrs. Igho Pearl who delivered a lecture on the Relevance of Technical Education and Dr. Friday Awhor on "The SMART Agenda" among others.
Highpoint of the occasion was the presentation of an award to the governor as the best governor on Wealth creation in the first one hundred days in office.
