Jonathan To Commission 4 Newly Acquired Warships For Navy On Thursday
The Director, Naval Information, Commodore Kabiru Aliyu, has announced the procurement of four warships for the Nigerian Navy by the Federal Government.
This was contained in a statement on Sunday.
The Nigerian Navy spokesman said the four warships would be inaugurated by President Goodluck Jonathan on Thursday at the Naval Dockyard Limited, Victoria Island, Lagos.
He said the new ships would enhance the Navy’s operational capabilities against contemporary security challenges especially on the nation’s maritime domain.
Aliyu said the inauguration was unique because this was the first time the Navy would take delivery of four warships at once.
He pointed out that the gesture was a genuine demonstration of the FG’s efforts to reposition the Navy to meet contemporary challenges.
