Buhari Promises To Run Market-based Economy If Elected As President
Presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Muhammadu Buhari, has promised to run a market-based economy if voted president in the March 28 election.
He made the promise in a statement released by the APC Presidential Campaign Organization (APCPCO) ahead of his town hall meeting in Enugu on Monday.
Buhari said the market-based economy he is promising would be operated with clear, unambiguous regulatory framework, effective enforcement mechanism and zero tolerance for corruption.
According to him, the APC-led government “will insist on and cut out wastages and run a clean and efficient administration in order to have funds available for capital and development projects that will assure prosperity for all Nigerians.”
The statement signed by the Director of Media and Publicity of the APCPCO, Mallam Garba Shehu added that Nigerians in business, foreign investors and young entrepreneurs under the APC presidency will enjoy equal incentives and friendly business and investment climate.
“It is envisaged that this will help them to participate and engage in productive economic and entrepreneurial activities geared towards the resuscitation and revamping of the nation’s economy and its capacity to generate millions of direct and indirect job opportunities for our teeming citizens,” the statement said.
It further stated that APC’s national economic policy would support and insist on diligent implementation of annual budgets to guarantee accountability and transparency in public resources management.
