Policeman Shoots Inspector Dead, Injures Corporal
A police corporal simply identified as Ozeigbe Omobude is now at large after he allegedly shot and killed his colleague, an inspector, in Benin City, Edo State.
The incident was said to have occurred on Monday at about 8.00pm.
A police corporal said to be attached to Oregbeni Police Station, Ikpoba Hill, Benin City attacked and killed the inspector was on his way to official duty at United Bank of Nigeria Plc, located at Agbor road.
The identity of the inspector was yet to be ascertained as at the time of filing this report.
The reason for the suspect’s action could also not be ascertained at press time.
The suspect who according to information is from Uokhai community in Owan East local government area of Edo state was also alleged to have shot another corporal simply identified as Ayinla.
According to report, the corpse of the late Inspector has been deposited in an undisclosed hospital while the shot corporal is said to be recuperating in the same hospital.
When contacted, Edo State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Moses Eguavoen said he was yet to be briefed even as he promised to call the Oregbeni Divisional Police Headquarters for confirmation.
