Last week, the traditional ruler in Osun state Oba Adeshina Anibijuwon was strangled by unknown hoodlums who later set his house on fire. The Speaker of Osun House of Assembly, Mr Najeem Salaam, has called on security operatives to arrest the criminals responsible for the death of the traditional ruler of Ilashe.

It will be recalled that the assailants had on Thursday last week invaded the palace of the 80-year-old Anibijuwon and strangled him before setting his palace on fire.

The Speaker described the incident as shocking, urged the police to get to the root of the matter as fast as possible.

Salaam said, "This is an ugly incident and least expected in the state. Despite the effort of the government to secure the lives and properties of its citizenry, some people are still bent on destroying the peaceful atmosphere in the state.

"The killing and burning of the monarch’s palace is against Yoruba's tradition, and it is indeed strange and unbelievable. This incident is very sad and unfortunate; the people behind it must be made to face the wrath of the law."
