SAD: Popular Celebrity Commits Suicide

The co-founder of natural hair-care line Miss Jessie’s, Titi Branch, is dead.

The 45-year-old entrepreneur was said to have committed suicide due to asphyxia . NV Magazine made it known that she died on Dec. 4 2014 . Her sister and business partner, Miko, and the Miss Jessie’s brand sent out tweets early yesterday in her memory. Although there is no official statement from the family yet, Washington Post made it known that a family friend has confirmed that she is dead.

Titi and her sister, Miko Branch opened their Brooklyn salon in 1997 and, in 2004, they launched a hair-care line. The ‘Miss Jessie’ trademark is the name of their grandmother. The sisters are known for pioneering natural hair revolution amongst women and they have helped women understand, style, and care for their natural strands during a time when conversations on this topic were still unheard.

The hair brand has grown tremendously over the years. Since its debut, it has become something of a household name, finding a place on the shelves of major retailers like Target, Walmart, and Ricky’s NYC. Titi created one of the company’s most beloved products: Curly Pudding, a curl enhancer that has won several awards, including Allure’s 2009 Best of Beauty and Shecky’s 2008 Best Wave Enhancer.

Titi and her sister, Miko

“We want to be part of [our customer's] journey and experience, while at the same time growing the brand and maintaining our integrity in the market,” Titi stated on Miss Jessie’s site. “When we get letters and emails from customers saying how our product and our message has changed their life and given them confidence to express their individuality — that’s what makes all the hard work we’ve put into Miss Jessie’s worth it.”

The natural hair community has undoubtedly suffered a major loss today, and Titi, with all of her charisma and knack for innovation, will be greatly missed.

It would be recalled that just recently, popular Rhythm Fm radio presenter who was a relationship coach and anchor of ‘Sharing Life Issues’ during his lifetime, Charles Bruce Chukwuma, popularly known as Chaz B died after years of battling with Kidney related problems.

In Secondary School, I Was Molested By A Priest – Lola Omotayo

Lola Omotayo recently revealed at the Kinabuti Dare2Dream Project in Lagos a secret part of her life to help out young girls at the project.

Lola revealed that when she was in her secondary school days, she was molested by a priest and she could not tell anyone in her family.

She said that the situation repeated itself in a former relationship before finally meeting Peter of P-Square and then getting married.

Excerpts of her speech below…

“You shouldn’t let your past determine what your destiny will be, we all have our past whether good or bad or makes us unhappy, we all had a life that we lived that we are not happy about, you shouldn’t let it bother you from succeeding.

When I was a young girl in my early teens in high school, I was molested by a catholic priest, i blamed myself, i didn’t tell anyone because i was ashamed, couldn’t tell anyone cos i felt everyone would blame me, so i carried on the guilt and bitterness with me for years. I was filled with hate and i became a angry person, i was rebellious, i didn’t want to listen to anybody…and because i wanted to be expelled from school to avoid seeing this person, i would do so many terrible things, everything around me was just so negative, i felt i wasn’t good enough….

Anyway i moved on to the university, met the love of my life and i’m like, okay this guy is cool, he loves me…and then he started to abuse me….i was beaten black and blue all the time, in front of friends, in public and at a point i felt, you know what I am not worthy enough, there is nothing about me that is nice, nobody loves me but i hid this from my family….i felt like a loser..so it was hard for me to focus..so one day i woke up and said i am going to change my story and i dumped that person, focus on my education and decided to be serious and be something….i decided to get a job and go to school full time in America…

I worked hard…my parents were sending me money cos I didn’t tell them i was working but i was working because i wanted to be independent…I didn’t want to depend on any man or on my parents even though they would have done anything for me…so i did all sorts of job, i was a make up artiste, i worked in a cafe, school library, i did so many things and i didn’t realise that these jobs were building me up as a person, building my resume, my confidence….people began to like me because i was adding value to their lives….at work i was excellent and so was i in school and that built me as a strong woman…and at some point, i sought counseling to get over my molestation issues where i was made to see reasons why i wasn’t at fault cos i was a child then…today I am accomplished.

You can be whatever woman you want to be but you have to believe in yourself, if they reject you today, it doesn’t mean you should let your dreams die, you have something unique about you.
Look at my husband, when i met him peeps were like what are you doing with him, he has nothing but i stood my ground and choose to stick with him cos he had a dream. He and his twin brother did not let their dream die, they worked hard..look at them today! I stuck by him cos he had focus and drive and today i am happy, i have a good life, we are happy and we have got a beautiful family. No one can make you a loser.”

Lola is married to Peter Okoye of the P-square fame, they have two kids together.

Delta 2015: Agbomah lauds Okowa’s emergence

A member of the National Executive Committee, NEC, of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Mrs Ifeoma Agboma, has applauded the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the governorship candidate of the party in Delta state.

Okowa defeated all the other 15 aspirants in the race for PDP ticket in a primary governorship election that was widely acclaimed as free, fair and credible.

Fielding questions from newsmen at the PDP national secretariat, Mrs Agbomah declared that the conduct of the primary election that produced Senator Okowa “has again proven that PDP is democratic and the voice of the people counts.”

She called on all the other aspirants to rally round Senator Okowa to ensure the party emerges victorious in the February 28, 2015 gubernatorial election.

Mrs Agbomah described Okowa as a detribalised politician that commands followership across the three senatorial zones in Delta state.

“From the outcome of the primary, everyone can see that delegates from the three senatorial zones voted massively for Okowa and that is why there was no dispute whatsoever about the outcome of the primary election.

“Senator Okowa gave a good account of himself for several years when he was a member of the Delta state executive committee before he went to the senate where he proved his mettle as chairman of the senate committee on health.

“His is first among equals and his emergence as PDP candidate is a good omen for the party as he is a very sellable candidate.”

She commended the leader of PDP in Delta state, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan for his statesmanship in handling the primary election and ensuring that PDP remains intact after the primary.

“Delta PDP is going into the battle as a very united family and all those who were praying for post-primary crisis are disappointed because they know that, with this development, no opposition party can upstage PDP in 2015.

“Delta is a stronghold of the PDP; it has been so since 1999 and this trend will continue beyond 2015.”

Mrs Agbomah also commended the national leadership of the PDP for the successful conduct of the national convention where the candidature of President Goodluck Jonathan was ratified as the presidential candidate of the party.

Delta Governorship Primaries: Asagba of Asaba, Ogeah, BRV congratulate Okowa.

by Jonathan Onwuka

The Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien, has congratulated Senator Ifeanyi Okowa on his emergence as Delta State Peoples Democratic Party ( PDP ) Governorship candidate in next year's general elections.

Prof. Edozien, who is the chairman of Anioma Congress, said that Okowa's victory in the governorship primary was a vindication of the Philip Asiodu led committee set up by the congress.

He said that Okowa was the People's choice and urged all Deltans to support him in the governorship election scheduled for February 21, 2015.
In a related development, Anioma Media Professionals have also congratulated Senator Ifeanyi Okowa and all the ethnic nationalities in Delta State, who voted for justice and fairness.

Also, the Delta State Commissioner for Information, Mr. Chike Ogeah, has described Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, winner of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, gubernatorial primary election as a worthy flag bearer.

Ogeah, in a statement, said: "As was the case in the November 29, 2014 primaries into Delta State House of Assembly, the governorship primaries of the PDP held on Monday, 8th December, 2014, lived up to the template of transparency and absence of rancour set in the earlier primaries.

"At the end of the exercise, Senator Okowa emerged victorious by popular vote. We congratulate the distinguished senator on his well deserved victory. With the Delta State PDP now through with credible primaries, we urge all Deltans to imbibe the virtues of tolerance and fair play exhibited by the contestants.

" We also commend all the contestants for upholding the party's tenets of fairness, discipline, loyalty and camaraderie throughout the campaigns and actual voting.
"That more than 20 distinguished Deltans, each eminently qualified to lead the State, took active part in the PDP governorship primary is a testament to the confidence in the electoral process engendered by the leadership of Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, governor of Delta State, who created a level playing field for the emergence of the people's choice.

"This has proved that it is a bastion of the PDP and is primed to continue to sustain the atmosphere of peace and development in the coming dispensation. "

Meanwhile, Benin River Vanguard, BRV, has hailed the emergence of Senator Ifeanyi Okowa as the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, governorship candidate for Delta State.

A statement by the the group's National Coordinator, Mr. Anthony Okotie, described Okowa's victory at the just concluded PDP governorship primary in Asaba, as a sign of better days ahead.

Okotie said that the overwhelming victory of Okowa confirms that he is a grassroots politician admired by the generality of Deltans.
Okotie recalled that in 2007 when the incumbent Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan emerged as PDP flagbearer, Senator Okowa was closely behind him.

OKOWA'S VICTORY: THE GENERALS AND SOLDIERS THAT FOUGHT THE ELECTORAL BATTLE.

PRESS RELEASE

When we began the cause of throwing our weight behind Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Ekwueme Okowa, we did it because we believe in his vision for a more prosperous Delta. In the heat of the politics, we soldiered on even when no one gave us a chance to succeed. Despite the goodwill of our principal, the media still went against him, painting him bad, but again, we were undaunted. In the critical moment that it threw on us, we successfully wooed the major anti Journalists to our side after showing them who Okowa really is, and they joined the train.

Everything we did was purely out of the conviction that with him Deltans will be more prosperous. Could Deltans Diaspora have done this alone? Certainly No. First of all, we appreciate the King who sits on the throne of heaven and makes the earth his footstool, for giving us smiles that our face cannot contain. To him we owe our everlasting thanks.

Every team has a captain and the DG of the Okowa group, Rt. Hon. Festus Ovie Agas will ever enter the Delta book of records for leading an army that brought home the trophy. The Okowa members of staff deserve a place in the throne of prosperity for being the foot soldiers that soldiered on. To our mentor and leader, Kingsley Emu, you sacrificed your esteemed position to see the prosperity project come to fruition. In you we see the future we desire to build. Thumbs up for seeing to the victory we boast of today.

We owe it a great duty to salute the foresight of the founders of DD, Patriot Dantes Odogwu and his amiable wife, Sophia Happiness Odogwu who through thick and thin made DD the force it was that it became Okowa’s leading media team.

The National Coordinator, Smart Ikem is no doubt a mobilizer who saw beyond the fourth wall and managed the little internal crisis we encountered; turned it around for the success of today. The DD Director of Operations, Tony Johnson, has sowed a seed that has finally germinated and it’s time for him to pop the wine, just as the Women Leader in Diaspora and Spain Team leader, Vivian Daco proved her mettle to mobilize when it matters most. All the way from Spain alongside Sophia Odogwu from London, they led the DD team to a successful declaration.

There is no good team without motivation, which DD keyed into and again, the Women Coordinator in USA, Nneka Oseji, Mr Jovia Ogbuenyi of Spain,Cyril Nweke, jonathan Acha and many others were ever ready to sponsor the monthly Okowa quiz. Your generosity paid off. DD Germany Coordinator, Lewis Chuks in the face of trials dares to believe in the prosperity projects and like thousands of DD faithful, he stood to the end. Jonathan Onwuka, Okowa's media aide; your mighty pen of valor has spoken victory.

We cannot forget the great roles played by Hillary Obi and Raymond Mgbakor, the SA and PA to Senator Okowa who were our eyes and ears when we needed them to be. Truth be told, they remain the most loyal partners any aspirant can have and as always, they have proven their mettle that for our principal, they will cross the thunderstorm. To the formidable fighter who is ever ready to die for Okowa cause, Alex Okunbor who used the Daily News Analysis and Facebook posts to project Okowa, the battle was not in vain. Thank you for being there.

To the Chairman of all Chairmen who is the Ika North East boss, Chief Godwin Ogadi, your astounding leadership and driving force took us this far in this race. What a woman, Chief (Mrs) Mary Agbogwe, your overwhelming support into seeing the Okowa emerge as this next governor cannot be washed away; as it stands evergreen in the hearts of all those who witnessed that day. DD Ireland Coordinator, Mrs Robert Okere and Mrs Lilian Berlinski, DD Welfare Director; our collective battle has led us to success; thank you for being part of the team.

There goes the name, Micheal Diden aka Ejele who stood still like the Northern Star to dare his boss and supported the Okowa project. With his Delta Political Vanguard, you moved mountains that could not be moved and today the result of your work is clear.
To Austin Onianwa, Director of Admin, Okowa Constituency office, your insight into the success of our principal has paid off. The nights you stayed awake just to see that we succeed has come to fruition and today, celebration is the name of the moment. From Prof Sam Oyabaire, it became internationally acclaimed that Okowa remains the only aspirant that is not detribalized and. With his statement, the coast was clear for other tribes to vote him knowing that he will carry everyone along. Prof, your words has bore fruit; rejoice.

Hon. Ifeanyi Eboigbe, Hon. Lawrence Oshiegbu ,Hon Ifeanyi Nwachukwu[Ify bross},Gen Emeke Asiwe and all the members of Otu Umunne, your doggedness paid off for our principal, by being steadfast to the end. Commander Jonathan Acha who stood like the rock has paid his dues in this struggle and this is the effect. Today we all laugh last. Oh Mrs Ivana Shenton, let the music play and let the dance begin, as the Eagle have landed in the house of Unity. To the esteemed delegates who refused to sell their conscience for the paltry sum of money and votes our principal, thank you for making the victory come true. To DD ex officio, Vincent Oshiagwu and Dele Akpatashi, thanks for making it to the journey of prosperity with us

The DD legal advisers, Agor Victor and Nwaeke Ogochukwu, glad to know that you are part of this success story. To all DD Coordinators from Abuja led by Emmanuel Nwonye, Lagos with under the leadership of Stanley Ofulue and the worldwide team, as well as Okowa online groups and our internet warriors like Ossai Ossai, Micheal, Obianke Richard Victor, Collins Ogbe, Susan Nduka, Miss Lily Okulugbo, Anita Williams, Isimah Kelvin, Mr Precious Ejanake, Jude Bruno Amamosa, Victor Iwekuba, Abule Governor, Okoh Williams, Emmanuel Mormah Chuks, David Oyadonga and many others too numerous to mention who contributed to this day of history, our paths will cross come May 29th 2015 where like two birds in the sky we will flap our wings and fly together with glory. Senator Okowa's victory is for generations yet unborn.

Signed: Fejiro Oliver for and on behalf of Deltans Diaspora and the entire Social Media team.

Groups Urges NASS To Hasten Passage Of Whistle-Blower Bill

The National Assembly has been urged to speed up passage of the Whistle-blower Protection Bill.

The call was made by the Christian Rural Urban Development Association of Nigeria, CRUDAN, through its South-West Zonal facilitator, Mr. Adewale Adeduntan.

According to the development and advocacy organization, “The Whistle-blower Protection Bill is one of the tools that can be used to wage war against corruption. The constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Section 39 affirms that every person shall be entitled to freedom of expression, including freedom to hold opinions and to receive and impart ideas and information without interference. This includes speaking out in a case of observed unjust or wrongful conducts and corrupt practices”.

Adeduntan, who spoke with SUNDAY PUNCH, noted that employees, who were whistle-blowers, did not feel protected enough to come forward with information on misconducts and corrupt practices.

He said, “Sometimes in August, 2011, Dr. Ben Agada of National Women Development Centre, Abuja was illegally dismissed from service for exposing N300m meant for poverty alleviation programme allegedly embezzled by some top officers at the centre. In November 2012, the Executive Director of Technical Services of the Nigerian Communications Commission, Dr. Bashir Gwandu, was relieved of his position for uncovering corruption in the commission.

“Similarly, the recent revelation of wastefulness in the aviation industry by one Mr. Nicholas Edwards, a staff of the Ministry of Aviation has posed some threats against his job and life. These among other cases have brought to the fore the importance of whistle-blowers in Nigeria.

“Though whistle-blowing would have gone a long way at exposing all manner of corrupt practices in the nation’s socio-political and economic atmospheres, the absence of laws guiding whistle-blowing and protecting whistle-blowers has restricted the endeavours of whistle-blowers to expose corruption”.

DELTA 2015: UDUAGHAN DROPS OBUH, ASK ASSOCIATES TO SUPPORT EDEVIE: THE UPU CANDIDATE

With barely 24-hours to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship primary in Delta State, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan has withdrawn his support for Mr. Anthony Obuh, the unpopular retired bureaucrat from the Delta North Senatorial District that he drafted into the governorship race and backed to succeed him in office in 2015, multiple authoritative sources with knowledge of the development have said.

The development confirms feelers that Uduaghan has been in disarray since he was pressured out of the Delta South Senate race by President Goodluck Jonathan on Friday.

David Edevbie, who was adopted by the Urhobo Progressive Union (UPU) as its sole candidate for the governorship with Uduaghan’s influence, served as former commissioner for Finance throughout Chief James Ibori’s 8-year tenure as Governor of Delta State. Ibori thereafter facilitated his appointment as Principal Secretary to deceased President Umaru Yar’Adua, where he played an ignoble role in the power play that almost brought the nation to its knees during the last days of then seriously ill President Yar’Adua.

The party in the state had in principle zoned the governorship to Delta north, the only zone that is yet to produce a governor.
An embittered Uduaghan, who is believed to be playing the spoiler, met with leaders from the Urhobo land last night in Warri and Sapele to push the Edevbie project, authoritative sources told THEWILL.

Uduaghan reportedly opted to support Edevbie so as to get even with leaders and stakeholders from Delta North for rejecting Obuh, often described as weak and lacking capacity to lead a complex state like Delta.
Delta North leaders had asked Uduaghan to choose his successor amongst Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei and Hon. Ndudi Elumelu, three top aspirants they argued had better capacity than Obuh with statewide acceptability.

THEWILL can also report that the Vice Chairman of the Delta State PDP for Central, Chief Tom Amioku, has called a meeting of all Urhobo delegates to the primary election slated for tomorrow.

Uduaghan’s fragile popularity in Delta State suffered a huge blow due to Obuh’s rejection by the political class and stakeholders statewide. It is however not clear whether Uduaghan, who has been at war with the political class and elites still has enough political capital to pull this off. Uduaghan drop.

We are reaching a crescendo and at this point, the interest of our land should come above all. Deltans are speaking out either in support or against some of these men and woman but what do we as Anioma people say of them.
Anioma crime watch have decided to put these aspirants into groups and we hope that it will help us in analyzing those who have indicated interest to use us to become governor of the oil rich state with its capital in an Anioma land.

I’ve No Hand In The Selection Of PDP Candidates – Patience Jonathan

The First Lady, Dame Patience Jonathan, on Tuesday, said there was no truth in media reports that she was imposing governorship candidates on some states ahead of the 2015 general elections.

The president’s wife said she could not have performed such a role because she was neither an elected official of state nor a Peoples Democratic Party functionary.

She made the clarification in a statement by her Media Assistant, Ayo Adewuyi.

Mrs. Jonathan was specifically reacting to a media report that some party leaders and stakeholders in Ebonyi State had decided to defect to the All Progressives Congress because she (first lady) insisted that the Deputy Governor of the State, Chief Dave Umahi, must be the party’s flag bearer.

Adewuyi said it was absurd that any person would assume that Mrs. Jonathan would make such a request considering the fact that she had continued to preach peaceful conduct for all aspirants before, during and after elections.

The statement, therefore, described the report as another attempt by mischief makers to attribute their self-induced political travails to wife of the president.

The statement read in part, “Let us state once again that the First Lady is not an elected official of state, neither is she a party functionary.

“She, therefore, recognises very clearly her place in the scheme of things.

“Let it be known that the First Lady has no hand in the selection of the party’s candidates in any state and definitely not in Ebonyi.

“If anything, she has continued the gospel of peaceful atmosphere for the conduct of 2015 elections.

“She believes the elections can only be conducted in a peaceful atmosphere and the aspirants must be alive to contest and win election”.

Jonathan Impeachment List Fake – APC Reps

The All Progressives Congress caucus in the House of Representatives has distanced itself from a list purported to have the signatures of lawmakers championing the impeachment of President Goodluck Jonathan.

A statement issued by the Minority Leader, Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila, described the list as “fake”.

A list of over 200 lawmakers from the House of Representatives, including principal officers of the House from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) were published in some online platforms as those that had signed the president’s impeachment list. But the PDP caucus has also since denounced the list as a scam.

According to Gbajabiamila, the real list would be made public soon.

The statement reads:

“The general public is hereby advised to disregard a fake impeachment list published by some online publicists for obvious sinister intentions.

“None of our APC members in the House of Representatives is party to the fake impeachment list.

“The authentic impeachment list would be published in due course and we urge our constituents across the country to be so guided”.

JAMB Approves 30 CBT Centres In Lagos For 2015 UTME

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) said it had approved 30 computer-based centres for the 2015 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) in Lagos State.

Lagos Coordinator of the Board, Dr Beatrice Okorie said that the development was a great improvement over the previous years when there were only five centres.

She disclosed this when asked about the board’s level of preparedness ahead of next year’s matriculation examination slated for March 4, 2015.

The board, had during the 2014 examination which comprised the Paper Pencil, Computer Based and the Dual Based modes, declared that it was migrating fully to an all computer based test, reports the News Agency of Nigeria. Now, the coordinator said that about 30 fully equipped centres had been approved for the conduct of the examination.

“Preparations are in top gear for next year’s matriculation examination. Everything is going as planned.

“We have been visiting various centres around the state to inspect what are on ground.

“So far, we are satisfied with about 30 centres that have been able to meet our requirements as they will ensure the smooth take off of the conduct of the examination.

“We will also like to say that more centres are still going to be approved and a case where there is an outright absence of the backups or the capacity for the existing ones are below expectation, we will advise for an immediate installation or a replacement.

Okorie said that there was no going back from the full migration to the Computer Based Test (CBT) mode.

United Await Scan Result on Rooney’s Injury

Manchester United skipper Wayne Rooney will have a scan on the knee injury, which forced him out o Tuesday’s 2-1 win over Stoke City, according to manager Louis van Gaal.

The Dutch boss, 63, speaking after United’s fourth successive wins at Old Trafford last night, also gave some positive update concerning midfielder Daley Blind’s recovery, while Angel Di Maria, who pulled up with a hamstring injury in the first half of Saturday’s win over Hull, could be sidelined for next weekend’s trip to Southampton.

“Di Maria is not so heavy (serious) but of course he shall not play against Southampton,” Van Gaal said in his post-game press briefing on Tuesday. “But you never know.”

In-form United striker Rooney, 29, was not included in the squad for the ‘Potters’ trip to Manchester, after limping out of the victory over Steve Bruce’s Hull.

“It’s his knee, but we have to wait for tomorrow (Wednesday) to say anything about him because you never know with a knee,” he said.

“My opinion is it is not so heavy but I am not a doctor. So we have to wait for the scan then we will know more. But I hope it is not so heavy.”

Van Gaal expects Blind to return from an ankle injury towards the end of this month.

On Blind’s possible return date, Van Gaal suggested: “Not next week (against Liverpool), I don’t know…Christmas maybe- maybe Chrtistmas. At the end of December maybe we there is light a the end of the tunnel.”

DELTA STATE GOVERNORSHIP RACE 2015 IS FOR QUALITY POLITICIANS AND NOT FOR ANY POLITICAL JUNKY

Elder (Dr.) Chukwuma O. Nwaonicha (Big Daddy)

I’m using this occasion to congratulate Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa for his successful political declaration for the next Delta State Governorship race. Without a doubt, the difference is clear between the Senator and the rest of the contestants in the Governorship race in Delta State. The Senator is the very best among others in the race and it is a matter of time, Government house is certain for the Senator. During his speech, the Senator noted that going along the line there are challenges of peace in the State, poverty reduction, job creation for the youths and infrastructural development among other issues, which he said, are some of his top priorities. I’m very certain that Deltans without a doubt shall benefit from the Senator’s administration as the Governor of Delta State. Many thanks to the organizers of the occasion for a job well done. The occasion was attended by the movers and the shakers of Delta State politics among other dignitaries including the mammoth crowd. Any contestant that is not comfortable with the present development and believes he or she is just “hanging in there” should join force with the Senator for a better tomorrow. In other words, before it is too late as your courage will be appreciated by the Senator and his supporters.

There are several opportunities for young people (as indicated by the Senator) who will dare to dream big, work smart and work hard towards actualizing their dreams with Godly principles. There are many youths who are short-changing themselves from their God-given talents and opportunities because they lack self-discipline, foresight, ideas, vision and goals for themselves. The senator is prepared to address these issues retarding youths’ progress. The three criteria globally used to measure preference for a leader are competence, integrity and acceptability. Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa got them all and today the Senator is acceptable to the generality of Deltans. I pray that PDP thinks big and wise by nominating Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa as its flag bearer in Delta State for the Governorship election come 2015. The party stakeholders should learn from experience and not through the hard way. That is, PDP should not repeat what happened in Edo State, the ball is in the court of PDP. The party should take advantage of it.

In another note, with all due respect to you, Governor (Dr.) Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, I believe that you are a little bit confused about the choice of Delta State Governorship candidate for the next election. You have made many choices as to that effect and Deltans may not take you seriously any more. Hence you have to be neutral in the Governorship race or you support/anoint the rightful candidate. Majority of Deltans advise that the Governor should not support or promote a non-politician or a political junky. They advised that the Governor should go for a political heavyweight and a political big fish. To be specific, they advised that the Governor should support Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. I sincerely believe that their advice and my suggestion will be politically advantageous to the Governor political career. I wish the Governor the best in your political endeavor.

In addition, I’m using this opportunity to thank the NWC Members and the PDP national chairman, Alhaji Adamu Muazu for holding on to their position about the imposition of Governorship candidate on any State. Many thanks to Alhaji Adamu Muazu for trying to achieve his goal of restoring the lost glory of the PDP. Also, the proposed swapping of positions by Governors and their respective Senatorial District Senator is undemocratic and will not work. I’m one hundred and ten percent sure this proposal will not work in Delta State. The PDP Governors should be ashamed of themselves as imposition of any candidate on the people is very undemocratic and will create faction in the party.

In my sincere and honest opinion, Delta State Governorship Race – 2015 is for quality politicians and not for any political junky. It will be based on proven personality and integrity issues and not through imposition of Governorship candidate. The race will not be based on the fact that Delta State is predominantly a PDP State or through empty boasting by some aspirants and Government appointees that cannot even win the party nomination in their local government. These aspirants or Government appointees are only trying to make themselves relevant – that is the beauty of democracy. However, some of these aspirants are using the platform as money making venture for themselves by staying put or hanging on, knowing fully well that they are going nowhere. This is purely a personal and selfish interest on the part of these aspirants; they are deceivers (to themselves and to the general public) and they are big time failures. In addition, as I observed, 2015 election in Delta State is not for politicians that are proud and cannot be reached, rude, arrogant, unscrupulous, mischief makers, pathological liars and evil doers. As noted the quality of a good politician is often backed by leadership skills, experiences, intelligence and integrity - all combined to achieve certain goals for the advancement and empowerment of the masses. Therefore, the best quality of a politician is honesty, God fearing, trustworthy and reliability. I challenged Governor (Dr.) Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, the PDP Chairman in Delta State, Chief Emmanuel Ighomena and other Delta State Stakeholders on the choice of the next Delta State Governor that will make Deltans proud.

Unfortunately, many of the aspirants for the Governorship race in Delta State never sound like a leader in my opinion and they do not have the qualities that make a good leader. Majority of them play politics of ethnic divide and are not ready to work with all Deltans. They believe in parochial leadership, which is not good for the State. Most of the aspirants believe in campaigns of bitterness, rancor and calumny. Delta State Governorship race requires a leader that is devoid of ethnic sentiments, a leader that will unite rather than divide the state, a leader that advocates for a social welfare scheme for the weak and unemployed in the State and believes that the challenge of every democracy is to prove to its citizens that it has the capacity to respond to the challenges of governance, a leader that has respect for the elders, widows, youths and constituted authorities. It requires a leader with human management skills. Most of the aspirants lack these qualities. Zoning or no zoning it will be a contest and whoever emerges with the highest votes will be the party’s candidate. However, zoning arrangement should be seriously considered for fairness, justice and equity but where it does not happen due to marginalization, then let the chips fall where they may. The Delta State Governorship election will not be given on a Platter of gold or due to emotional feelings from some quarters. In other words, success and riches never come easy or on a platter of gold but the political system in the State should be in such a manner to command the respect of all Deltans, that is, it should be fair, just and equitable.

As the saying goes, one does not benefit from where he or she does not sow. Based on the above saying, it is not surprising to me why many people are panicking, fidgeting or scared about their choice of aspirant. Perhaps their choice is not a good politician or he/she is a newcomer with a horrible political shortcomings. I do not support an aspirant based on emotional issues or sentiments (religion, senatorial district, local Government or tribe) but purely the quality of the individual or aspirant and what he or she can achieve for Deltans.

I believe that the PDP Stakeholders and the juggernauts of Delta State politics should listen to the voice of the people because the voice of the people is the voice of God. As noted, the people (majority of Deltans) have made up their mind and their choice is Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. I do not expect responsible and respectable loyal PDP members to challenge this wholesome acceptance and endorsement of the Senator by majority of Deltans because he is more popular and more credible than any other Governorship aspirant in the State. Deltans are prepared to give the Senator their one hundred and ten percent votes. All these newcomers, non-politicians, errand boys and/or politicians without a political network of accomplices that cut across the strata of Delta State are spoilers, wasting their time and are going nowhere.

PDP stakeholders and loyalists that are pushing very hard for Delta State to remain PDP State; should note that it shall materialized by picking a good and marketable individual as the PDP Governorship flag bearer at the primary and not through imposition of any candidate on Deltans (from the House of Assemble to the Federal House of Representatives and to the Governorship race). As a Delta State indigene, a Patriotic Leader and a PDP Stalwart from Ika South Local Government, that is my honest and sincere opinion. Imposition of the Governorship candidate on Deltans will create division and faction in the party, which will ultimately lead to the fall of PDP in the State. Also, the imposition of a Governorship candidate on Deltans could lead to the cobra effect and the cobra effect occurs when an attempted solution to a problem (which may be a political problem, social problem, economic problem or financial cover up, among other problems) actually makes the problem worse. Any imposition of an aspirant as the Governorship candidate by a single individual may be disastrous to the party. I do believe that electing Senator Okowa as the PDP flag bearer is the answer or solution to the political, social and economic challenges confronting Delta State. Therefore, the way forward for PDP stakeholders in Delta State is to pick a marketable and winning candidate at the primary and I strongly believe Senator Okowa shall be the choice of the delegates.

Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is a seasoned and an astute politician, a highly placed individual that will promote unity among Delta State ethnic divide. Only Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa rightfully stands out among other Aspirants in Delta State. According to George Orwell (Animal Farm), all animals are equal but some are more equal. There comes Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa. He is the best among PDP’s first elven, that is; the best among the best when it comes down to loyalty, credibility, reliability, professionalism, personality, integrity, management, leadership and empowerment among others. He is more detailed, more thorough and more liberal as opposed to other aspirants or candidates. His candidacy is about lifting Deltans out of poverty into prosperity.

The Senator is a grassroots politician; he is focused, experienced and has a very good track record, and he is more on ground than any other Aspirant in any party in Delta State. He is selfless, more compassionate and more reasonable in terms of leadership and management skills. He is an embodiment of loyalty, hardworking and transparent, who should be emulated by all well-meaning Daltans.

The PDP Chairman in Delta State, Chief Emmanuel Ighomena will go a long way in his political endeavor if PDP maintains its sustainability in leadership in Delta State. I know for sure that PDP cannot afford to lose Delta State to another political party by picking a wrong and non-marketable Governorship candidate at the primary; perhaps through imposition of a Governorship candidate on Deltans. As noted by Deltans and Delta State political class, the Delta State Governorship race is for quality politicians and not for any yes-man, errand boy and/or non-politician that have no political structure in Delta State even in their Local Governments. Governor (Dr.) Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan should resist an attempt to pick a yes-man, an errand boy and/or a non-politician, and go for a politician with competence, excellent management and leadership skills. Any attempt to pick a yes-man, an errand boy and/or a non-politician is an insult and a slap on the face of Delta State PDP members, Delta State political class and Deltans.

I sincerely believe the Governor should be neutral than to support or anoint a wrong candidate. As stated by many PDP stakeholders, there are dangers of imposing people against the interest of consistent and loyal members of the party who have suffered for the party for the sake of being the flag-bearer of PDP on executive level. Also, the PDP stakeholders warned that acts of imposition of candidates on PDP is absolutely adverse and negative to democratic principles and ideology, adding that democracy must be seen as an avenue through which people choose and decide who will govern or rule them in elections that are free and fair. I therefore, urged Deltans to vote out any yes-man, an errand boy and/or a non-politician at the primary elections to secure their future. The era of Dark Horse is over because the politics of yesterday is not the politics of today and will not be the politics of tomorrow.

As I have stated many times, the next Delta State Governorship Race will be based on proven personality, integrity and popularity issues, and not by promoting any aspirant that has political shortcomings. That is, the delegates should pick a good and marketable individual as the PDP Governorship candidate at the primary. A good and marketable candidate is like a good product, it’s liked by all. Therefore, let PDP go for the best Governorship candidate. Promoting a bad candidate is like marketing a bad product, no matter the marketing strategy employed, it don’t sell because the product is not good, not appealing and not credible to the public. The PDP can produce a credible Governor in the next election to build and promote a stronger and united Delta State predicated on justice, equity and fair play.

I call a spade by its proper name and Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa is currently the finest administrators among the candidates contesting for the Delta State Governorship in the next election, irrespective of their political affiliations. He has excellent work ethic and interpersonal skills. The Senator has the charm, brilliance, competence, compassion, loyalty and patriotism every Governor must have to succeed. He is accepted as a friend at home and abroad. His political network of accomplices cut across the strata of Delta State and beyond. However, as the saying goes, when the wind blows, the anus of the fowl will be seen because the Senator shall be the choice of Deltans.

During the ongoing Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa political networking and consultation tour in which he has visited twenty two local governments of the State, and during his declaration speech the Senator told the PDP members and Deltans that they should support the President because he (the Senator) wholeheartedly is supporting Mr. President second term in office. The Senator told Deltans to vote en masse for Mr. President come 2015 election so that Mr. President could get the over two million registered votes in Delta State. In addition, the Senator advised Deltans to remain solidly behind the Federal Government in its Transformation Agenda. What a devoted and loyal Senator, Bravo!

Furthermore, in his declaration speech, the Senator urged the delegates to always use their votes wisely as their votes were not for sale and any act to make their votes a mercantile affair will be inimical to internal democracy of our political party and political dispensation. The Senator thanks Nigerians and Deltans, and wishes them well.

As always, you’re Blessed.
