GOV OKOWA OF DELTA STATE LAUDS CHURCH FOR MOULDING PEOPLE'S CHARACTER
DELTA State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa has commended the Church for playing vital roles in moulding people's character.
The Governor who was speaking on (04/12/15) at St. Jude's Catholic Church, Effurun during a requiem Mass for late Chief Samuel Oborevwori, father of the member of Delta State House of Assembly, representing Okpe Constitutency, Hon. Sherrif Oborevwori, observed that but for the church, the society would have been worse.
He, however, observed that it was sad that despite the efforts of the church, the decay in the society was still much.
"I thank the Church for being a good guide to our society; the society is going bad every day and I wonder what it would have been without the Church," he said.
Governor Okowa who lauded the deceased for ensuring proper upbringing for his children, charged parents to contribute towards a better society by spending time with their children and be abreast with what they are doing.
He stated, "parents must begin to live up to their duties, we must not abandon our children, no matter what we struggle for, once we fail to give our children the required attention, it will have effect on them."
Rev. Fr. Joseph Bolokor in a homily, said death is a mystery and to Christians, "death is a transformation to a better life, it s a transformation and it brings about joy and happiness to a Christain; we are consoled and happy that he (late Chief Oborevwori) believes so much in Jesus Christ, he was a faithful Christain, a man who trusted in The Lord at every circumstance."
