More PDP govs ready to join APC – Senator

Prof. Sola Adeyeye

Vice Chairman, Senate Committee on Education, Senator Sola Adeyeye, says more governors on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party have signified their intention to join the All Progressives Congress.

Adeyeye said this in Ikirun on Monday while addressing members of the party during an empowerment programme.

He said his prediction that the APC would take control of the government at the centre even before the 2015 presidential election had started to come to pass.

He said the popularity of the APC had become unstoppable, saying the party would soon become the ruling party in the country.

Adeyeye said, “We have taken over as the party with the highest number of lawmakers at the National Assembly. We have 280 legislators out of 360 at the House of Representatives. We already have the two-thirds there.

“We already have the majority at the Senate, but we have yet to have the two-thirds there. We will soon accomplish this.

“We are waiting for the power to override the veto. Two among the governors (who defected to the APC) are spies, but we also have spies among the PDP governors. It is politics and that is expected.

“Very soon, some governors from the PDP camp will join us. It will be clear to all that the APC has taken over.”

The senator, who represents Osun Central at the Senate, said he would hand over “omooba” to Governor Rauf Aregbesola and this drew a wild applause from the party faithful, who gathered at the event.

Many of those gathered at the event believed that the person he was referring to was the National Secretary of the PDP, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, although the lawmaker did not mention his name.

The senator explained that he would not have had the money to distribute to his constituents if he had been building houses like his colleagues at the upper legislative chamber.

“I know a senator who has not built a house and that is me. If I have built the type of houses my colleagues are building I would not have the money to distribute to you today,” he added.
