FG Declared October 1 as a Day OffThe Federal Government announced the decision to declare October 1, 2013, Tuesday, as a public holiday to mark Nigeria’s 53rd Independence anniversary.
The appropriate statement was read by Abba Moro, the Minister of Interior. On behalf of the Federal Government, the Minister congratulated all the Nigerians at home and abroad, and urged them to build a more united and virile nation that would be the pride of all.
The Minister enjoined all the Nigerians to use the period of the public holiday to reflect on “the giant strides made by the Government in the development of the country, especially under the leadership of President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan.”
Abba Moro further passed the wishes of a happy Independence Day celebration to all the Nigerians.
