6 persons including an 8-year old girl left injured as FRSC official reportedly throws a stone into moving vehicle in Sokoto


Six persons including an eight year old girl sustained serious injuries after an official of the Federal Road Safety Commission, Sokoto state command, allegedly hurled stones into a moving commercial vehicle along Western Bye-pass in Sokoto yesterday December 4th.

DailyTrust reports that the FRSC official in an attempt to make the driver stop for inspection, hurled stones on the moving vehicle.

The stone hit the driver which caused him to lose control and then his vehicle somersaulted. All the passengers in the bus were seriously injured. A timely intervention by the police helped to stop a mob from physically attacking the FRSC officials and burning their patrol van.

Giving an account of what happened, driver of the commercial bus, Muhammad Sanusi, said while he was driving from Silame local government area to Sokoto metropolis, he met some FRSC officials who asked him to stop and as he was driving off the road to park properly, one of the corps members who thought he wanted to run away picked a very big stone and threw it at him.

The stone reportedly hit him on his right hand as a result of which he lost control of the vehicle. The state Police Public Relations Officer, Almustapha Sani confirmed the incident but however stated that the police is still gathering information about the incident.
