ROAD CONSTRUCTION: WE WANT QUALITY JOB, OWA-NTA RESIDENTS TELL CONTRACTORS - IKA WEEKLY
The residents of Owa-Nta Idumuetor Community, particularly Okwe and Edie quarters, in Ika North- East Local Government Areal of Delta State, on Tuesday, November 15, 2016, commended the Delta State Governor, Senator Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa for approving the contract for the construction of the Old Abraka road which before now was a death trap for motorists and okada riders.
They also appealed to the state Government, to monitor the on-going road projects which are currently being handled by “Broad Line Construction Company”.
They expressed dissatisfaction and disappointment over the construction company's inability to make use of quality materials on the road. They complained that the constructed drainage systems are not wide and deep enough to accommodate the water coming from the upper part of the town particularly from Efeizomor Street by Old Abraka road areas.
They complained bitterly that the construction company is not grading the soil at the drainage side before the normal filling with the (Red Soil) like the contractors handling Owa-Ekei road project is doing.
They therefore called on the Governor and the Commissioner for Environment, Hon. (Bar) John Nani to urgently inspect and supervise the construction project with a view to correcting the anomalies.
