The acting governor
of Taraba, Garba Umar, has commended President Goodluck Jonathan and
the PDP for assisting the state resolve the political crisis that
erupted in Taraba over Gov. Danbaba Suntai’s health
Mr. Umar made the commendation on Wednesday in Jalingo at a news conference. Gov. Suntai returned to the state on Aug. 25 after 10 months of medical treatment abroad over injuries he got in a plane crash in Oct. 2012.
Mr. Umar told newsmen that the intervention of the President and PDP had helped to re-unite the people of the state.
He urged the people to support Jonathan’s administration to enable it to deliver on its mandate.
“The president and PDP have asked me to continue in the acting capacity, but that I should be taking instructions from my boss, Gov. Suntai,” Mr. Umar said.
He commended journalists for putting national interest first in their coverage of the crisis.
