Okowa’s Birthday: Ogor Empowers Constituents
The member representing Isoko South/North Federal Constituency, Hon Leo Ogor, has given out several empowerment materials to members of his constituency.
Speaking at the ceremony where the items were given yesterday, the lawmaker described the gesture as his resolve to roll back the frontiers of poverty in the constituency through the empowerment and to bring the benefits of democracy to the people.
He said, “instead of wasting money on newspapers adverts to celebrate the 56th Birthday anniversary of the Executive Governor of Delta State, Senator Dr. Arthur Ifeanyi Okowa ,I have decided to use the funds to empower my constituents.”
“The governor in his wisdom had earlier advised us his political associates, family and supporters to use such funds to develop our various constituents”
The lawmaker stated that the gesture was to garner the confidence of the constituents, saying what he had given them was a tip of the ice berg.
“In due course, you’ll see and feel more. But make good use of this opportunity and be rest assured that today is your turn; tomorrow will be someone else’s. For me, empowerment is a continuous process; it is part of my lifestyle. Actually this is not the first time am reaching out to them in my empowerment programmes, he said”
Items given out by the lawmaker to his constituents include: 48 deep freezer, 48 sewing machines, 48 hair dryers, 72 generators, and 96 ladies machines
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of Isoko South Local Government Area and the ALGON Chairman ,Delta State, Hon Malik Ikpokpo commended Ogor for the gesture , saying such gesture came at the right time .
“I am very happy to be here today to witness this empowerment programme. I only pray and hope that the beneficiaries of the gesture will pay back by making judicious uses of these items” he said.
Speaking further, the Chairman of Isoko North Local council, Hon Emmanuel Egbagbor, said he was not surprise over the decision of the lawmaker to shower several items on his constituents.
In their remarks, the beneficiaries said they were delighted to have benefited from empowerment programme.
