FIFA Scandal: Warner’s Extradition Papers Received In Trinidad

Attorney General of Trinidad and Tobago, Garvin Nicholas, has confirmed he has received an official request by the United States for the extradition of former Fifa vice-president Jack Warner.

Warner is among nine persons with ties to football’s governing body, Fifa, indicted by the U.S. Justice Department on charges of wire fraud conspiracy, racketeering and money laundering.

“I can tell you that I have this (Wednesday) morning received a formal request for the extradition of Mr. Jack Warner with supporting extradition package,” Nicholas told reporters in Port of Spain.

“The process is now for me to examine the documentation and consider the evidence and decide whether to issue the authority to proceed.”

The 72-year-old is currently on bail following his arrested on a provisional warrant in June. He is due to reappear in court on 27 July concerning his extradition request.
