Buhari Says No To U.S. On Gay Marriage

President Muhammadu Buhari without mincing declared to United States lawmakers that Nigeria cannot condone gay marriage, according to the presidency.

Buhari who spoke at the joint session of U.S. Senate and House Committees on Foreign Affairs Wednesday made Nigeria’s stand clear to the US lawmakers and the issue was not pushed further.

“The issue of gay marriage came up here yesterday. PMB was point blank. Sodomy is against the law in Nigeria, and abhorrent to our culture,” the president’s special adviser on media and publicity, Femi Adesina wrote on microblogging site Twitter.

“The same s*x marriage issue came up at the joint session of Senate and House Committees on Foreign Affairs, not in direct talks with Obama.”
