I want to begin this piece by extending a hearty congratulations to a friend from the cradle, a humanitarian of international repute, a man of immense humility, a social media maestro, born with unrivalled creative abilities, the very Patriot Dantes Odogwu, on his meritorious appointment as the SSA to the governor on New Media, your elevation to this very important position is a reward for your unrelenting commitment to pursue the Okowability project to its successful conclusions.
I also want to use this medium to thank His Excellency, Senator (Dr) A. I , Okowa, the energetic Executive Governor of Delta state for acknowledging the unalloyed loyalty, doggedness and the resolute faith the Odogwus have in him. To remember those who stood by us in rain and shine is one of the noble qualities of good men and ability to appoint people into positions where their talents, skills and knowledge can be effectively utilised is one of the rare qualities of purposeful leaders.
I am aware of the fury which followed the appointment and elevation of Patriot Dantes Odogwu to an SSA and the resentments in some quarters surrounding the honour which His Excellency bestowed on the Odogwus.
As someone who have a clear knowledge of the crucial roles they played in the actualisation of the Okowability dream beginning from 2011, I want to say that they truly deserved the appointments.
I am not undermining the collective efforts put by all to ensure that we are here today. I am only talking about the unwavering support and sacrifices the Odogwus put towards the project.
The social media campaign engine house of Governor Okowa cum PDP Delta State, which we all know today as Deltans Diaspora was an offshoot of Delta Patriots Global Care Initiative, founded by the Odogwu in 2011.
Deltans Diaspora is an online campaign organisation of unrivaled status not only in Delta State but nationally.
Anyone claiming igorance of the roles this giant political media organisation played to make the SMART AGENDA aka Prosperity for all Deltans, a household name in Delta State before the party primaries and during the campaign proper is been economical with the truth.
Deltans Diaspora is solely responsible for the internationalisation of the Okowability project worldwide as the group was launched in major European Capitals, Uk,Canada and the US in early 2013, purposely to sell the governorship aspirations of Senator Dr Okowa to Diasporan Deltans.
This international projection of Senator (Dr), Okowa's governorship aspiration then, was soley initiated and spearheaded by the Odogwus, Patriots Dantes Odogwu, single handedly went to these capitals to launch the group's Chapters.
The Delta state chapter, in central, North and South Senatorial Disricts of the State was inaugurated by Patriot Mrs Sophia Odogwu, on 6th April. 2014, months before the party primaries.
After the primaries, Mrs Sophia Odogwu served in the protocol subcommittee of the PDP campaign organisation while Patriot Dantes Odogwu was appointed the Director, PDP International Social media organisation and we all saw the qualities of their posts and its graphics which made mince meat of the oppositions' divisive messages.
So haven played all these roles especially in raising this formidable online campaign organisation (DD) which contributed immensely to the landslide victory of the PDP. Should we now say they should not take part in driving home the Agenda they helped to project?
His Excellency, Governor Okowa is a man who likes to seek the mandate of the people for the power to do more, he also recorgnises that those who put in some efforts in a project needed to be given the power to do more.
So the appointments given to the Dantes is an acknowledgement of the sacrifices they have put towards the actualisation of his dreams and he deemed it fit to invite them to join him to deliver the SMART AGENDA they have helped to packaged and propagated among Deltans across the globe.
The appointment of Dantes Odogwu, as an SSA New Media is good for PDP Delta State, as it provides the party an ample opportunity to build a more robust online media organisation that will help the government to reach out to all Deltans with its policies and programmes as well as enlightening citizens on how they can key into the Prosperity Agenda and benefit maximally from it.
Morealso, it is said that the end of an election mark the begining of the planning for the next election, PDP Delta owe it a duty to build a strong online team that will not only ensure that it retain power in the state but also regain the presidency come 2019 general elections.
The social media is the simplest medium of information dissemination, it is a broadway communication medium but filled with lots of disinformation and as such requires more hands to handle.
In today's world, everything is done online and with the Delta State New Media World, Delta State is now fully online.
