55th Independence: Cleric Warns Against Negative Remarks

NIGERIANS have been advised to desist from using the Independence Day celebration as a day to mourn, regret and curse leaders for what is perceived as failure or missed opportunities but to rejoice and celebrate Nigeria’s greatness and thank God “for giving us a nation with such extra-ordinary wealth and great potentials that we expect would be realised on the world’s stage.”

The advice was given by the Zonal Pastor, Christ Embassy, Warri Zone, Pastor Siji Dara, while speaking at a Press Conference of the Church’s Reach out Nigeria Campaign 2015 in commemoration of the 55th Independence Anniversary of Nigeria, to be held in Warri, Delta State.

‘Reach out Nigeria’ is a project initiated by the President of Christ Embassy, Rev. Dr. Chris Oyakhilome, which started in the year 2007 with the mass distribution of over 2 million copies of the Rhapsody of Realities devotional throughout Nigeria to commemorate the 47th Independence.

“For many, the 1st of October, is a day to reminisce on the good old days and how we as a Nation has found ourselves where we are today; many complain and blame the government for the deplorable state of affairs in virtually every sector of our National life. But there is a new light in the horizon and it’s bringing with it a fresh hope and belief in Nigeria’s greatness,” he said.

Represented at the press conference by Pastor Yomi Morakinyo, Pastor Dara said, “It is the desire of every right thinking Nigerian, to see a growing and improving Nigeria. However, for our Nation, to experience this transformation, the people must first have an inner transformation; nothing reaches the depth of the human soul to produce that undeniable permanent change, as effectively as the word of God. God’s word is the veritable agent of a lasting permanent change.”

He said that the year 2015 ‘Reach out Nigeria’ with the theme, “Dawning A New Nation,” promises to be better, bigger and more exciting as they will be distributing 30million copies of Reach-out Nigeria across the country while the Warri contribution is 2.5million copies.

“In this year’s Distribution, we’ll have three editions that will run through a 3-Month distribution period from October to December respectively. We are presently in the center of God’s agenda for the world and we want to see many more people saved before the Lord Jesus Christ Returns. This year we intend to also distribute millions of free copies of Rhapsody of Realities as well as embark on Community Development Projects,” Pastor Dara stated.

He added that Christ Embassy, Warri Zone will also be making donation of Hospital Equipment, Warri Prison Project, Medical Outreach at eight Locations, Football Tournament amongst community youths and clubs, amongst other activites.

“Our utmost desire is to achieve through this year’s distribution; a wider spread of the influence of God’s word and power into all parts of the nation, beyond geographical boundaries and physical limitations, as everyone receives and embraces the message. We are calling on you to join us, in this escalating venture to bring about a positive change in our country,” Pastor Dara posited.
