The Obi of Owa kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Dr. Emmanuel Efeizomor II, JP, OON, has described the victory of the Governor-elect of Delta state, Sen. Ifeanyi Okowa as the wish of God for the people of Delta state. The Obi made this known during an interview with newsmen at his palace.
The revered monarch noted that Okowa's gubernatorial ambition was made possible because God ordained it so and as such, it is a victory for God and the entire people of Delta State. In the words of the Royal Father,
“In God's time, things happen the way He wants it. The victory is God's wish as he has ordained it so. I congratulate Okowa on his victory I appreciate his efforts and wish him the best as he becomes the Governor of the state”.
Obi Efeizomor stressed on the need for the Governor elect to live up to expectations by ensuring that he delivers on his promises to the people. He urged the Governor-elect to perform better than his predecessors by effecting change in the system as it is the people’s expectation.
“He should ensure he attracts dividends of democracy across the state such as the provision of electricity, good road network, good Hospitals, ensure maintenance of hospitals as most of the state owned hospitals are not in good state at the moment as the areas are busy and unkept. As a medical doctor, he should ensure the regular maintenance of hospitals in the sate,” he said.
He concluded by enjoining Okowa to be an action governor and not a governor that celebrates plans before they are executed as Four year is not so long a time. He called on those that would be appointed to work with Okowa to work effectively with him to ensure he delivers on his promises. He advised the people to give Okowa a free hand to perform his duties and not clustering around him for political gains or favour.
